picture this. peter, a gun in both hands, strutting down the corridor among the chaos. he's ready to fuck shit up and reclaim his throne as per their plans. he goes inside the room where the empress is, alone and unguarded; she's basically served on a silver platter.
but.
when he goes inside, he hears her crying. she's on the floor with her golden head bowed and shoulders shaking. her sobs fill the room. she is more than a usurper of the throne, she's the woman peter loves. the mother of his child. peter crumbles to the ground and takes her in his arms.
that moment is a thousand times more worth than the crown.
