I will keep on saying this: If the mass deportations of Black and Brown people was considered racist under Trump, it doesn’t magically stop being racist just because a Democrat™ is doing it now. The silence from “allies” who were screaming bloody murder about immigration abuses under Trump is as deafening as it is hypocritical.
And I will keep saying this too: Abolish ICE. ICE is beyond “reforming.” And prosecute ICE and Border Patrol agents who commit human rights abuses.
When I was born we didn't even do this and couldn't. There was no ICE and being an "undocumented citizen" alone wasn't a punishable crime with automatic deportation. They could only deport you if you did something else jailable, like robbery.
Bill Clinton changed it in 1996 to expand the criteria for being "illegal" and also basically *require* that immigration judges deport everyone within those criteria; those judges previously had freedom of personal discretion and could decide if an undocumented citizen deserved help getting legalized instead of just locked up and shipped out, you know, the whole purpose of having a "judge" at all.
This set up the groundwork for ICE to form in only 2003 under the "war on terror" pretense. People act like this has always been a thing in America but ICE is younger than fucking Shrek.
