During recovery from an injury and an urgent field surgery, Yuuki grieving the permanent loss of his arm.
And Susan grieving that she had to perform that field surgery lest the injury gave him sepsis and killed him.

The healing salve/balm that Susan used, although never mentioned in The Case of Kindall, K., is one of the reasons why Yuuki could recover from his field surgery amputation with minimal infections or wound complications.
