hey where’s that post about how it’s important to be aware before recommending/calling suicide hotlines that They Will Call The Cops On You. i have it saved somewhere but i can’t find it & i want to reblog it today For No Particular Reason
note that Trans Lifeline doesn’t call the police on actively suicidal people so if you’re trans that can be a good resource! and if you’re Catholic, priests aren’t allowed to break the seal of the confessional for any reason, and things said in confession are exempt from all mandated reporting in most U.S. states (and in the ones where they aren’t exempt, they’re mandated reporters of child abuse but not of suicidality AFAICT—still, worth checking your state laws in more detail first, I don’t know the details for every state). you can also go to confession as a non-Catholic but idk how they’d handle that, I never went before converting
if you’re not trans or Catholic you might be out of luck—most mainstream suicide hotlines (including the Trevor project) allow calling the cops on you if you’re actively suicidal (although the line for when they do this varies from organization to organization and volunteer to volunteer— it’s overall fairly unlikely ime but it’s a risk). followers feel free to add Suicidality Resources That Won’t Call The Cops No Matter What if you have any
also i’m aware this is very America-centric (<- American who mostly knows American resources and laws, writing this bc of the flood of posts aimed at Americans in crisis due to the American election) but if anyone has details on how non-American suicide hotlines work or the level of risk of cop involvement or forced institutionalization for various crisis options in other countries feel free to add that as well
and I haven’t looked into it much but one of my uk followers says samaritans might be good for the UK!

gen z has to reckon with its radicalization problem. you are not a morally pure and superior generation of youth come to save the world, your men and boys are radicalized at an unprecedented level and you ignore it because it’s too hard to address but you have to. these boys are in your classes, they date your friends, you know them and you cannot continue to pretend this is an “old white guy” problem
girls are contributing, too. the coquette aesthetic, the “i don’t want to girlboss i want a man to pay my bills”, girlmath girljob girlmoney. it’s a joke, it’s clothes, it’s whatever, i get it but it is driving a mentality of traditional gender roles and you know you’re joking but your boyfriend doesn’t. your kid brother doesn’t. you have to stop this shit it is a contributing factor
If by some miracle sweet potato Hitler doesn't win come the end of the week, this won't be necessary, but should he win here are some of the first things to be aware of or do.
- If you know a trans person, no you don't. Respect them as best you can in private but you know nothing in public.
- Be aware that TikTok will likely be banned, find new platforms to spread information. Fuck Twitter and what ever tiktok replacement he's working on.
- Learn to Garden, even in winter so you can feed yourself should prices skyrocket
- Get an air purifier. The Clean Air Act is likely to be stripped of its power with the EPA deregulated, air quality is going to suffer
- Should you have kids, try to supplement history/social studies education. That's the first place they will attack, if you need help ask, history teacher will help
- Try and do what you can to be aware of your health before January.
Help one another. That's the best way we can move forward and make change in the future.
This is a reminder to:
- Never mention a possible pregnancy/abortion to anyone, especially not through a social media app messaging service such as messenger, WhatsApp, Instagram DMs, Snapchat, etc.
- Delete all period tracking apps and to start tracking using a planner or physical calendar
- Book appointments for a form of birth control if possible, or to always carry condoms for yourself and other
- Look into sterilization options if that is the route you want to go down (here is a list of 1000 doctors willing to sterilize you without a fight)
- Protect your fellow person, protect the women in your life, the queer people, the disabled people, everyone will be affected by this
Form communities. Tell your people that you love them. Protect one another. Check in on one another. None of us are alone.
I know there’s an existing post somewhere, but here’s the list of OBGYNs in the USA and other countries that will perform tubal ligation (aka female sterilization) without arguing with you
if you're feeling powerless right now—and god knows I am—here's a reminder you can donate to the National Network of Abortion Funds, the Trans Law Center, Gaza Soup Kitchen, the Palestine Children's Relief Fund, and hundreds of other charities that will work to mitigate the damage that has been and will continue to be inflicted
life continues. we still have the capacity to do good, important work. that matters
something you can do today is donate to an abortion fund in florida and to an abortion fund in south dakota since abortion rights measures failed there. you can find one to donate to in one of those states here: https://abortionfunds.org/find-a-fund/
who wanna sit in my dimly lit bedroom and listen to the hit 1994 industrial album The Downward Spiral by Nine Inch Nails instead of socializing with people
i don't know how to tell you you should care about AMAB, AFAB and intersex trans people. at the same time. like. all of them. every single one. without downplaying or diminishing the entirely unique struggles every single trans person faces. care about ALL trans experiences when it comes to AGAB, not just one.
they're burning ballots in the US now btw. in case you wanted to know where things are at.
Edit: to clarify, locations mentioned are Vancouver, Washington and Portland, Oregon. This news story does not involve Canada.

[ID: four screenshots from a tik tok by user imperfectidealist. All feature a woman with shoulder length dark brown hair with bangs wearing a red shirt. The only major change between the images is the text above her head.
The first reads (in quotation marks to indicate these are not her words) “but sustainable fashion is classist!”
The second reads “you do realize that true sustainable fashion means things like buying less, buying used, giving/getting hand-me-downs, and mending your clothes right?”
The third reads “lower income people often naturally participate in sustainable fashion.”
And the fourth reads “or did you just want to use lower income people as an excuse for your $500 SHIEN haul”

Hey I know I'm not that much of a punk circles kind of guy, but just in case you kids don't have anyone more credible to tell you this: do not put endangering badges on your back.
Yes, your battle jacket should consist exclusively of whatever the fuck you want to put on it, but if you've got political badges, rainbow pins, or anything advertising yourself as a member of a vulnerable group (whether that's trans, disabled, any kind of ethnic or refugee background, you probably know what yours are better than I do), only put them in places where you can see everyone who can see them. I'm not joking this is a safety measure. Punk scenes can be rough and sketchy places and not everyone who attends them is safe to be around.
You don't need to come tell me that this is unfair, because you're right. You don't need to come tell me that I shouldn't be telling you not to put a target on your back, but that I should be telling people who assault people to not assault people, because you're wrong. Yeah no shit it sucks but unfortunately if nazis gave a single fuck about who is morally correct, they wouldn't be nazis in the first place.
Be yourself by any means necessary, but protect yourself by any means necessary. Rainbows go in the front of the jacket.
Palestinian girls and women are forced to use tents as pads. People boost. Donate if you can
don't know if anyone needs to hear this,,, but if something helps you do something and doesn't harm you or anyone else, then just do it. and this applies to a lot of different things (using disability aids, food banks, mutual aid etc.) but what really helped me see this was my ongoing battle with my own hygiene.
i struggle with brushing my teeth, like, BADLY. there's times where i will go a week (sometimes two) without doing it. and no amount of telling myself "stop being lazy, this is disgusting, you need to brush" ever helped. but since discovering this YouTube body doubling video every night for a week ive brushed my teeth morning AND night all because i had some motivation.
and, hey, is this pathetic? i dunno, maybe. but id rather have clean teeth and clean clothes and be pathetic rather than try and fail every single night to do basic hygiene because i feel so above a crutch.
use things that help you, fuck people who think they're above it
SOMEONE will advocate for you

if you find yourself in a situation like this, don’t panic. there are people who can, and will, help you <3
[video ID: a pale skinned person with blue hair and a lip ring is shown from the waist up, speaking into the camera. transcript (some of the captions on the video are not spoken, so those are added in parentheses):
“I don’t know who needs to hear this today but there is no such thing as a “leaked nude”! (obvs don’t mean colloquially) 1. if your nude is behind a paywall like onlyfans, it is: copyright infringement and onlyfans will fight for you. 2. if your nude was taken or sent in private, that is: revenge porn, and as of 2019, is illegal in most states and countries where social media is prominent.
in 2019 one of my girls came to me and said that her ex was threatening to leak her nudes. she played me his voicemail and I fucking laughed. homeboy left his full name and threat on a recorded message.
usually I’m not very supportive of the police if that’s not obvious (I made this decision based on the people involved and didn’t put anyone in danger) but in this situation I told her to call. she filed completely over the phone, never met with an officer and he never saw her face (she also said that he didn’t make any remarks or judgements on her which was important to her). that officer called the dumbass and told him that he was facing a felony in his state. basically, the dumbass wet himself and never contacted her again.
but if you don’t want to go that route you can always get a lawyer involved (to inform and advocate for you). I know even that sounds like “how can I do this?” but for my she’s, gays, & theys out there: if you are in an abusive situation or they’re committing crimes against you, some lawyers in your city will work for free.” end ID/transcript]
That can be helpful for someone, so ok, i will reblog this
