why tf are different directors allowed to work on one project? why can’t we just stick with one or two working together??
👆Exactly. Having different directors ruins the potential of any show/movie. Disney needs to stop this immediately.
Hi there!
If I may pop in for a moment. When it comes to TV shows, it works differently than movies. In a movie, directors have creative control over the project.
In television, the showrunner is the top dog. To put it simply, they have complete creative authority and responsibility for a program's writing and management. So, effectively, they make the final decision on everything.
A few big names are Shonda Rhimes (Grey's Anatomy (best known), but also Private Practice and Scandal); Amy Sherman-Palladino (Gilmore Girls); Scott M. Gimple (The Walking Dead); and Dave Filoni (The Clone Wars).
In addition, when spin-offs for shows are created, often times the previous showrunners have a say in what happens with a show. It's partly a way to add their name to gather more credits.
So, if you're upset with the potential for a show, take a look at the showrunner. (Or who created the original show that's now a spin-off) Chances are the director is just there to make the shots look nice. They don't have a say in what happens.
