Give me a scene of Mike with tears in his eyes, calling out to Will with such pain and desperation that his voice cracks on Will's name. Give me Mike with trembling hands and stuttered breaths, so afraid of losing Will that he can't even speak. Give me Will taking Mike's hands in his own and pressing them against his chest, against his heart. Give me Will being so strong even though he's just as scared, holding back his own tears, and promising Mike that he'll be ok. They'll be ok.

You know there'll be a scene in s5 where Will's either going to be sleeveless or shirtless, and Mike's going to panic. Full Windows 95 shut down over this boy.

I know this has been talked about before but I just really love the costume choices in this scene.

The s4 costume designer said this; the same person who added triangles and equality symbols into one of Robin's s4 outfits to reflect LGBTQ+ elements. The same person who said Mike's outfit was meant to look like he just bought it at the aiport, as the style and colors aren't what he normally wears.

While we're being shown El in clothing she doesn't know is "weird" to match together, we're also being shown something else. We're being shown a couple uncomfortable to be themselves around each other. And the fact that El's wearing Will's shirt while Mike's arm is around her, with Will just behind her in an extremely similar shirt and looking upset... the imagery is truly *chef's kiss*.

What if Will decides to rebuild Castle Byers when he's back in Hawkins, but when he goes to do so he finds it already done? Everything that wasn't ruined by the rain is back in its proper place and even the photo he ripped up is sitting beside his cot, taped together and placed in a protective picture frame. Beside it is a note with four different messages scribbled on it:

Will said El has a book of Mike's letters, but Mike has a book of Will's drawings. Mike crumpled up both of the letters from El that we saw in s4, but Mike has always been gentle with all of Will's art. He has his drawings hanging in his room AND his basement. Explain to me again how Byler isn't supposed to be endgame??

Ahhhhh the pineapple pizza scene is one of my favorites 😌

It would've been sooo easy to have Mike and El share a moment together in Hopper's cabin, instead of Mike and Will. Mike could've taken that time to really let El know he loved her, since he was able to say it during his monologue. It would've been genuine and heartfelt, just the two of them in the beautiful sunlight coming through the living room window. I believe El would've felt Mike's sincerity in a quiet moment like that; if Mike had asked Will to give them privacy so he could finally be honest and open with El. Then they could've gone into her room together to straighten up, instead of El doing it on her own.

But that's not what happened. The Duffers chose to show that Mike and El weren't on good terms despite Mike's confession. They chose to show that throughout the season, Mike and El had drifted further apart while Mike and Will had drifted back together. It was Mike and Will that had their moment in that sunlight, with Mike reassuring Will (very adamantly) that they'd kill Vecna. He provided instant reassurance to Will, promising to kill someone, when he couldn't even reassure his crying girlfriend by saying 'I love you.'

I can't wait for the moment Mike realizes the painting wasn't commissioned by El and that the speech Will gave him in the van--the speech that Mike thought was a reflection of El's feelings for him-- wasn't about El at all. Then to have that followed up by him remembering El said she thought the painting was for someone Will liked.

I want to actually hear his brain make the Windows XP shutdown sound.

The way that I wheezed

When Mike and Will finally hug -- like, really hug -- Mike's going to wrap his arms around Will's shoulders and immediately bury his face into the other boy's neck. He's going to feel Will's pulse against his cheek, feel the way he begins to tremble, and wonder why he waited so long to do this.
