Waiting for the Barbarians:  76th Venice Film Festival Behind the Scenes.

A new vídeo with scenes filmed between September 5 and September 6, 2019, during the 76th Venice Film Festival, featuring Johnny and cast of the “Waiting for the Barbarians”, was shared by Cineview Mantova, an Italian movie theater.  Also, the movie is set to be screened in selected theaters in Italia in one week, next September 24!

“Waiting for the Barbarians” Behind the Scenes:

Johnny talks about his latest character and movie on a interview for the “Waiting for the Barbarians” behind the scenes documentary.

“My character, Colonel Joll, (is) representing essentially this condition: brainwashed mind that was probably already damaged to begin with; With some sort of tendencies and whatnot, certainly narcissistic, and all that starts to match up pretty good with others that we can see in the world that we are. And it’s a package of throbbing gristle in the skull that is able to say: “Separate the mothers, separate the children… Cage them”. Do away with this, we must have this wall no matter what, but what I do it’s very relevant to what’s going on with this film, which I said to you earlier, and in a such a rare thing ‘cause it’s only happened to me a few times; it flies out of your mouth after, kind of, rewinding and reliving and understanding now all the participants in this shadow play that is “Waiting for the Barbarians”. You start to put it all together in your mind, and this either happens or it doesn’t, and it’s rarely happened to me. But it did on this. I just said and felt we’re doing something here, but we’re really doing something here. That’s very special and relevant. So even though it’s a very intimate film but it’s broad, it’s wide, it’s large, it’s rich. I was amazed that where we traveled in the scenes and how we all got there.” - Johnny Depp (Morocco, December 2018)

“Waiting for the Barbarians” was officially released last August 7 and is currently available on demand and digital on  Amazon, Fandango Now, Google Play, iTunes, Vimeo, Vudu and Youtube.

Interview with Johnny Depp about ‘Waiting for the Barbarians’ and his character Colonel Joll

3 months and 4 days, after Johnny’s latest post on his official Instagram, he finally updated with two posts. The first was a video filmed yesterday, September 10, and shows him sitting at a desk in his home, in Plan-de-la-Tour, France, writing out the thank you statement for his fans, and for all the people who believes him. Everything handwritten in ink on a piece of paper. Lovely.
