Negative Effects Headcanons

Here are a mere few of the various ways you can magically suffer in Minecraft.

Slowness — Disorientation and lack of coordination. Causes the individual to feel woozy and off balance, and their joints may lock up. Makes you feel heavier than you really are, and slows down your reaction speed. In high doses, can function as a tranquilizer. Overdoses can cause the afflicted to have difficulty swallowing, and can cause permanent paralysis.

Weakness — Light-headedness, difficulty breathing and tremors. The afflicted will begin to tremble uncontrollably and experience shortness of breath. Blood will not coagulate properly, and will flow freely in critical amounts from small injuries, causing severe blood loss. Can cause severe joint pain, headaches and even loss of consciousness in high doses.

Bad Omen — A strong, foul odor, and heightened paranoia. Small lapis lazuli crystals injected into a pillager captain’s blood enter your own through your pores, and you can be monitored and hunted down, like a tracked animal. It also causes a milder version of the mania that lapis-insertion causes, due to the soul reacting with the magic mineral.

Poison — Coughing, nausea and vomiting. Severe stomach pain and itching. In higher potencies, can cause migraines and hallucinations with lasting delirium.

Harming — Chemical burns, spasms and excruciating pain. The label doesn’t lie. Works like a very potent acid, but can only dissolve biological material. Can sear through layers and layers of body matter, even dissolving bone. When drunken, this will kill you in five painful, painful minutes. Weapons or tools are dunked in a non-lethal dilution of this frightful substance to be used as torture instruments, as well as brands.

Withering — Radiation poisoning but worse. Causes rapid growth of discolored, tumor-like material on the point of entry. Causes organ failure, confusion, vomiting and hair loss, as well as rapid atrophy of muscles and soft tissues (like eyes). Afflicted’s skin may bruise and blacken around the wound, and at the point of death they may be unrecognizable. Survivors of the effect will be permanently disabled, and may need amputation of afflicted area so the effect does not continue at a later date.

Hunger — Insatiable hunger (no way, really?) and indigestion. Any food eaten will come right back out. While the physical symptoms of starvation are not present, the brain is tricked into thinking it is starving, and the afflicted may act irrational and salivate heavily.

Bad Luck — A feeling of despondency and frustration. Causes depression and anxiety, and may cause the afflicted to feel uncharacteristically under-the-weather.

Darkness — Hallucinogen released by the sculk shrieker that causes blindness and eye irritation, as well as disorientation. Meant to cause prey to stumble about and make as much noise as possible so it reveals its location.

Levitation — Floating (obviously), a feeling of weightlessness, and a sinking sensation in the stomach felt as if you’re falling. Also, subsequent injuries causes from hitting the ground rapidly.

I’m trying to figure out what colors nether residents would have names for (we have red orange yellow green blue and purple) theres only like, 2 blue thing (soul fire and water bottles) so blue is probably called purple-cyan, no green in the nether so prob no word for it. SO this is what I have for it

-Crimson red/Red, for crimson forests, red mushrooms, and nether warts

-Netherrack red/Rack for netherrack

-Nether brick red/Brick for nether bricks

-Orange for lava, fire, shroomlights, leather, magma

-Gold for gold, glowstone, spectral arrows

-Cyan for warped forest, ender pearls

-Purple for portals, crying obsidian, and enderman eyes

-White for bone, quartz, iron, and string

-Gray/Nute for basalt, netherite, bedrock, and gravel

-Dark gray/Gray for blackstone and spawners

-Black for obsidian

-Brown for soul sand, soul soil, brown mushrooms and ancient debris

There’s a difference between dying normally and dying in the void. Dying normally, your soul and experience integrates back into your environment (this is the basis for many ecosystems in minecraft). Your body rots away, but You are stored as a semi-corporeal object. Falling into the void, however, completely obliterates you and your body from existence. It rips you apart at the seams and sends you into infinite timeless oblivion. Even players are wiped, when they would usually respawn. Very few players have ever respawned from void annihilation. There is one documented recovery, but calling it a recovery would be stretching it. They won’t come back right if they do.

The Nether is not uniformly heated, and has an atmosphere of dense gas that allows airborn organisms to thrive. Things get a little cooler and a lot more humid the further you go from the lava “oceans”. Despite how it seems, the Nether DOES have a lot of water — But it’s gaseous, not liquid. The nether is extremely humid, swamped in large amounts of water vapour that is typically too hot to condensate. The only areas it can condensate are in crimson and warped forests, where the fungi serve a similar function to baobab trees. Native nether organisms don’t have blood, they have a pneumatic system instead. Ghasts move through the air by inhaling and exhaling huge amounts of hot air, and have large sacks called ballonets that keep them buoyant. They feed on swarms of spores, static SE (soul energy) and microorganisms, and are highly territorial. They will brutally attack any other large organism in their territory, including their own young.

I think I should expose people to my mob player headcanons.

Basically, it’s a tangling of code, like when I try to pull out my purple skein from the yarn crate and pull out five skeins at the same time on accident. Maybe your dad keeps getting repeatedly killed by creepers? There’s a good chance you’ll be part creeper, since traces of his death are left in his code. Maybe your mom runs an industrial scale flower farm? You might be born with flowers growing out of you, since she’s got flowers threaded into her code from being around them so much.

Maybe your parent is a Warden with such a high body count that when you budded out of the mycelium you had human eyes and opposable thumbs, and you had to fucking run because there’s enough Player in your fungus to register as an Intruder. You’ve never seen the sun before.

Maybe your parent’s village was obliterated by Withers and when you screamed your first baby scream the flowers in the flowerbox blackened and died.

Builders eat Redstone because it’s on their hands and everything they touch, including their pantries. Their children eat redstone as essential nutrients and have been known to vampirically drain auto farms through sheer force of hangry.

this is the most wonderful of things

I love this

I’m eating it as we speak
