Living Bodies
General Judoh struggles to accept the fact that his king is an AI. Whatever the hell that means.
So, remember that alien larp AU? Well, turns out that no crack au can remain purely crack for long when set up against my serious love for AI characters.
3,242 words, Judoh/Suwon. Read it on AO3 or read more below the cut.
Many thanks to @luckyfilbert for help with editing!
I. AM. FLAILING. I’m not usually a big fan of scifi but I love how you write Soo-Won so I couldn’t pass this up. AND IT’S SO GOOD??? My favorite thing about AI/Aliens/Just-Plain-Not-Human stories is the human characters’ reaction to the reveal, how it makes them question the definition of what is a person, and how they decide how little/much the not-human aspects matter.
I love the brain-twisting question on whether Soo-Won developed his own will or whether it’s “bad programming,” but in the end I came to the same conclusion as Joo-Doh. IT DOESN’T MATTER.
“If I wanted feeling, sentiment—King Il had plenty. I made that decision a long time ago, Your Majesty.”
Love that line and totally with you on this one, Grumpy Bear General. Go support your terrifying-too-many-time-on-his hands-because-he-doesn’t-need-to-sleep AI King!
Last but not least, I read your notes on this AU and I think I screamed aloud at some parts. YES to Tae-Jun and Lili as rich spoiled alien tourists (that eventually went native because Yona is just that awesome)! Yes to the still intact possibilities of “WTF Dragon Gods are real” reactions (I notice that tidbit about Zeno you sneaked in there). YES to Soo-Won’s mom knowing and the possibility that Yona’s mom will play a part. Basically YES TO EVERYTHING.
