gonna grow you a place safer than this

@burningcomputerpersona

Currently obsessed with american pop punk band The Wonder Years. This blog is mostly just a collection of things that I'm interested in at the moment, whether it's music or a new fandom or just queer memes in general. I'll probably appear once in a while to reblog a bunch of posts about a new obsession that you didn't follow me for and then vanish off into the unknown again. Current interests include: the wonder years, spanish love songs, hot mulligan, against me, doctor who, etc.

Really like this thing Walz does when they're appearing side by side -- he points at Harris or gestures at her in some way like "hey! Look at her! Here she is, the star of the show!"

He's doing for her what Biden did for Obama: an old white guy being visibly happy to play the part of the #2/sidekick/hype man for the younger person of color. (I know that Walz and Harris are technically the same age, but yknow.) In her case, he's also showing that it's cool for a guy to be there to support a woman, and for her to be the undisputed boss. All of which are great qualities in a VP.

Look. This isn't about policy, or anything, but the thing that makes me like Walz the most right now is that he will stop a speech mid-sentence and call for a medic if he sees someone staggering in the heat, then thank the people nearby the ailing person for looking after their neighbor.

It's happened twice, and he just brings things to a halt until he knows the person is okay and being looked after.

He's actually looking at the people in the crowd. Not past them, not through them, not counting bodies so he can brag about the size of his... crowd. He notices when people aren't doing okay, and he stops what he's doing to call for help.

It's such basic fucking human decency, and it's been a while since I've seen someone in politics be so reflexively decent that it really shook me (complimentary) the first time I saw it.

טים וואלז איז א מענטש.

Thank you!

That is the first of two clips - the second is the next night in Michigan.

It's just... basic human decency.

Lmao, this Tim guy seems cool.

Catching up on his speech at the rally, he seems like the perfect foil for a lot of republican attack lines.

“Until recently, it was Republicans who were talking about freedom. It turns out that what they meant is that the government should be free to invade your doctor's office. In Minnesota, we mind our own damn business!”

Like that’s a great line, it applies to abortion rights, trans healthcare, anything. Absolutely skewers the republicans on what was previously their core principle of small gov + freedom.
