ive seen people say that it feels strange that swarm seems to say that it’s his time against the doctor’s space or whatever, and ive seen people question whether swarm and azure are the bad guys, and theres this meta about the clothes of swarm and azure seeming to represent this bullfighting dance that makes the doctor’s position be either inanimate (cape) or involuntary (bull), and theyre made of crystals like the tardis, and theres this meta about the doctor being tardiskind, and im like,,,
what if theyre only on opposite sides because the doctor has been made to play this side by the timelords? what if theyre the same species, from the same place, that would have the same objectives if the doctor wasnt so completely in the hands of the timelords? what if swarm and azure are wild time and the doctor is tamed time?
Now it's crystal clear as to why the Master was raging about what he saw in the Matrix and Doctor's past so badly that he destroyed the whole planet

also yaz is in her element this episode and i love watching her but 13 is too oh my god. like sure shes 7 mental breakdowns in a new coat but the combination of her playfulness and her meanness is so on point. she doesnt have to pretend to be NiceTM for the fam anymore so now shes just Like This im in love. 13 is like,,,when youre kinda on the verge of crying all the time but sometimes it comes out as just giggle fits? but instead shes like kinda on the verge of being really really angry all the time but instead it just comes out as being the biggest nuisance in the universe. like i said im in love.
the way she says “ive been busy” not impatient but with a kind of dawning realisation or maybe almost guilt like shes been tunnelvisioned chasing division members for how long now and been neglecting to look at anything else in the universe that might need her attention
and then “whats the FLUX” like why a NEW THING ive got enough THINGS going ON shes so exasperated ahkfsjgk im thinking of the remnants in 11x2 also going “she doesnt know” and that was about the timeless child and now heres another person saying she hasnt heard the news yet and shes like fuck what NOW

The Doctor back when they were the Ninth Doctor told Rose he can feel the turn of the Earth, the ground beneath their feet spinning at a thousand miles per hour.
This is the first time we actually see the Doctor feel her connection to the universe and the people around them, dying at an exponential rate, that we see their connection to time and space isn’t just a bluff. But an actual reality. The reality of being a Time Lord.
I’ve always wondered how Obi-Wan felt the billions of voice silenced, and now we can see it happen! It’s amazing. But also heartbreaking because at this point the Doctor knows they can’t save the other worlds and lives being destroyed.
Her voice when she realized the scale of what was happening: “I can feel the universe breaking.” I just can’t. And the way she didn’t even push away the hold from Yaz and Dan, because she needed that grounding.
The Doctor knows there’s nothing she can do, at this time, to stop the Flux from engulfing the universe, but she knows, thanks to the Lupari, Earth can be saved.
It circles back around to: Sometimes all the choices you have are bad ones and you still have to choose.

The Doctor is racing to save her adopted home before everything else is lost, the TARDIS arrived just in time for the Doctor to oversee the interlocking ships come together, but also ensured the team was trapped on the other side of the Shield Wall.
also im very invested in this continuing saga of the tardis being an extension of the doctor. she still wouldnt let the new companion say “it’s bigger on the inside” but this time she DID use those exact words herself. so, progress? maybe vinder’ll say it.
i really liked the part where yaz pointed out the goo the tardis was leaking and the doctor went “im fine. the tardis is fine. we’re all fine”. we werent asking about YOUR goo doctor we were pointing out the tardis’s. but i really liked that. like the tardis is very much part of her. im her, shes me, we’re one body.
also i think shes just so expecting to be questioned on her fine-ness constantly that shes jumping to her own defense even when it’s not really necessary. but i also like the idea that the tardis’s fine-ness being questioned feels as much of a personal attack as her fine-ness being questioned. “YES WE’RE FINE STOP ASKING”

Thirteenth Doctor really heard “be kind” and took it to mean “never let anyone see how hurt you are, so that you’re not a bother to them”
Oh. In a way this is the opposite end of River’s rather problematic attitude towards the Doctor when they were Eleven, ‘When one’s in love with an ageless God who insists on the face of a 12-year-old, one does one’s best to hide the damage.‘
The Doctor still struggles with endings but fortunately this time the Doctor doesn’t put the emotional burden on the companions, on the other end though, the Doctor now doesn’t want to show how badly hurt they are because the Doctor doesn’t want to be a bother.
What’s sad is it’s still frustrating for Yaz. She knows something’s up & wants to help, & the Doctor is completely unequipped to open up in any way. And on top of that she’s actively putting Yaz in danger, just like how 12 did with Bill—where he overrode her concerns about traveling with Missy, & hid his blindness from Bill leading to disastrous results in Pyramid at the End of the World, 13 is ignoring Yaz’s demands to know more about the dangers 13 is putting her through. The Doctor really never learns.

That little creepy speech he delivers when breaking into her brain is So meant to evoke the relationship around the doctor and the master, lbr, and the master would be mortally offended by this.
It would also be wildly hilarious if he were to break out of his self hatred by seeing this creepy nose weird alien act like him and the doctor have Their kind of relationship and he’s like ‘uhm. Bitch. I am better than you. Get away from her’.

- I really really like this first episode, this chapter 1, and its around 50 minutes and the pacing was amazing! Sure there were a lot of threads going on but I was enjoying every single one!
- The Weeping Angels are legit scary again, seriously, I feel like Chibnall should write horror/thriller, he has such a deft hand for it! The house with poor Diane near the end? CREEPY.
- Dog soulmate aliens coming to Humanity’s aid! Amazing.
- Sontarans are ugly again, huzzah! Still funny but also can be intimidating!
- Swarm being creepy, the twist with his sister! Who may or may not be the true big bad!
- The Master is so not going to be happy if he learns about Swarm!
- YAZ!
- Yaz and Thirteen’s relationship! I love how in sync they both are but now that there’s no distractions and buffer by the way of Graham and Ryan, Thirteen can’t squirm her way out of uncomfortable topics.
But I also appreciate that Thirteen’s dropped her Pleasant Travel Tour Host guide personality she used to keep the fam at arms length. Something not as easy to do with only two people aboard.
- I liked Dan! Like, I was neutral to him but I legit like him and much faster than I liked Graham! I didn’t expect that.
- And Vinder! The moment he was on screen I was charmed!
- Thirteen still doggedly searching for the Division, and there seems to still be Division agents scattered around just not revealing themselves to the Doctor, I hope this means that there’s still remnant and refugee Gallifreyans around.
- I do love how despite destroying Gallifrey, Chibnall era does seem to be engaging with Gallifrey or the absence of Gallifrey. Because my headcanon is, destroying Gallifrey via particle bomb loosened the structures that kept certain destructive beings at bay.
- Who is Clare in this?
- The two division agents were definitely Gallifreyan! Or at least recruited into the Gallifreyan Division! Just look at the guns that’s similar to Gat’s/Ruth’s demat gun!
the writing above there looks like degraded gallifreyan writing.
- The way the camera zooms into Thirteen’s eye and then to watching billions die and it’s so reminiscent of in Star Wars when Obi-Wan feeling ‘billions of voices silenced’.
- Also the Cloister Bell! We haven’t heard the Cloister Bell in a few seasons now, I felt that Moffat used the Cloister a little too much and so using the Cloister now after all these years!
- The use of the Vortex Energy! From series 1 we know how powerful this is and to have it essentially ineffective to the Flux? DISTURBING!
- The use of ‘the long way ‘round’, the call backs to Nine’s era, the Twelve and Seven accents. I love the homages to the previous era!
I can’t wait for the next chapter!

THE DIFFERENCE.
Thirteen doesn’t react when Dhawan!Master enters her personal space, because she *knows* him, she’s familiar with the Master, and she’s not the least bit intimidated. The power dynamic between them are on an even keel with it sliding to her advantage when she wanted it to.
Thirteen with Swarm circling her, looks for the first time, uncomfortable. She’s off balance and on her back foot because she doesn’t know him, she doesn’t know how to respond with his familiarity.
It’s such an interesting contrast!

Sure some moments were not so crisp but the 90% of “The Halloween Apocalypse”? FIRE🔥.
Like the one with Thirteen’s eye to the galaxy, to the planet? AMAZING.
