Since you know so much about US cities, what place would you recommend for someone who wants to be close to nature but also wants to never touch another car again?
I would unironically suggest Philadelphia, it has a good parks system, and access to a lot of nature vua the regional rail system. The other option is Seattle since they have busses to Olympic National Park.
There is also San Francisco which has the Golden Gate National Recreation Area and San Bruno Mountain, and also has a lot of nature on the western side of the peninsula
