one of the reasons i feel so strongly about separating "normal" from "okay" is because i have many friends who experience like... really terrible shit... and it's terrible shit that's normal in society, but they're being traumatized by it. and there isn't really a way to get through to them that it's not okay and they shouldn't repress their feelings about it when they're basically like "this is normal, right?" like yeah it's normal but it's also traumatic. you're being traumatized and it's not okay. it's normal and it's not okay. your parents shouldn't treat you like that even though it is totally normal for parents to treat you like that. but they shouldn't and you can stop talking to them. yfm?
in ‘the creation of adam’, Man lies back indolently, reaching out idly in response to the forwards-thrusting touch of divinity, well within reach but lacking the drive to take it, representing the naive state of original mankind, unburdened by consciousness or desire.
In this fascinating modern take, however, the artist instead shows Man as a driving force, frantically throwing aside all barriers and restrictions in pursuit of his goal: a goal which remains impossible to reach. Fast food, representing compromise for survival in the face of an uncaring and overstressing world, hangs awkwardly in the center of an uncrossable abyss. Note the use of highly-rendered tensed musculature to imply physical effort, emphasized by the contrast with loose, hanging fabric, and also the lack of effort on the part of the employee: She is trying, and were she reach out just a little further, then through their collaboration would Man attain his goal. But, the strictures of her position allow only a certain amount of human generosity and kindness. The structures we build as humanity prevent us from doing all that we can to help one another, and this remains true even when presented with a fellow human willing risk death, to survive.

“Okay :(”
He went straight to Acceptance. He didn’t even go through the five stages of grief. He just started at Acceptance.
I can translate for anyone wondering what he’s saying. The dialogue roughly goes something like
“Hopefully the owner of the car behind me will next time consider if-oh shit. Okay.”
thanks for the context omg

Never shout your name at the gods. The instinct of their ageless existence is to take any power they can. The force of which requires them to hear your cries will convince them of the might of your name and they will begin to worship it. Are you prepared for that responsibility? Demigods are believed to have been the errandchildren of the celestial, as if that made them lesser—but they were truly the ones with the influence. Balance can be tipped with only a kilogram. It is either a great misfortune or a terrible gain that powerful and underestimated are the exact same fate.
Please explain OP
When you shout your name to the gods, you put strength and might into that name. The gods don’t distinguish names, but they can recognize when a word is being said with power. They’re greedy, they want to control that power and take it for themselves.
If we were to forget the gods, they would be powerless. Why? Because we are the ones with the ability to call them to us, to fear them, to ignore them. Either way, they’re on our mind and alive that way. Once we refuse to speak of them, once they fade from our memories, they’re as good as dead because we’ve cut them off from us. Their power is in us knowing them. They aren’t powerful to each other - gods are not gods to one another, merely beings who exist.
Apply that theory in reverse now. We have no power to the gods who don’t recognize us. Give a god the ability to name and invoke us, then we have power. Power, however, is a fickle mistress. When we invoke the name of the gods, we usually do it for a favor. The gods are not powerful for being able to grant us that favor, we are powerful for seeking beyond our means to accomplish that task. It is a deal we struck with the gods long ago: they grant us our favors and we remember them.
What happens when we become known to the gods? When our name becomes Named? Look at the demigods. Their godly ancestors used them at their whim and indulgence to complete their tasks, as errand-children. The demigod was the one who was wanted, the one with the means to accomplish favors, the one who Could when others Couldn’t. They were Named, they were made Powerful, they were used.
The gods will hold on to their deal as long as they can: grant us favors and be remembered. That doesn’t mean they like it. When the opportunity presents itself, they will switch the deal so it still holds weight, but works more in their favor.
I reiterate: never shout your name at the gods. Forget them while you can.
Woah what is this Percy Jackson shit
