Plus if you’ve got a sense of humor about the digital nightmare world we live in or if you’re into industrial music or cyberpunk they’ve got a great line of stuff to choose from and it’s *legitimately* difficult to look like you’re living in a near-future dystopian novel sometimes so I appreciate the fact that they fill that niche.
Black Moon Cosmetics is vegan and cruelty free, their makeup is mind-bogglingly beautiful. It’s really not cheap, by any means, but it’s more affordable than Kylie cosmetics or Jeffree Star while being super high quality and an indie dedicated to goth style. They have a wide range of colors available and look great on a wide range of skin tones.
And no judging people for shopping at Hot Topic. There aren’t a lot of places for babybats to shop, it’s hard to find fishnets year round, and where the fuck do you think someone is going to be able to find platform knee-high black boots with lace trim in the middle of nowhere? If buying online isn’t an option (which it often isn’t because sizing on shit is bizarre and goth brands seem to have pretty awful return policies) then Hot Topic is a perfectly acceptable place to get some staples. Obviously it’s not an ideal first choice but you could do a lot worse.
Now, extreme couponing with hot cash:
Hot cash is an automatic 25% off. Just think of it that way. If you buy a pair of $60 boots when they’re running a hot cash promotion they’ll give you $30 in coupons that you can use on a $60 purchase, so total you’ll have spent $90 on $120 of stuff. The best way to do this is to purchase a big-ticket item while they’re initially giving away the hot cash so that you can plan what to spend it on and save up for (boots are a good example). When you’re reedeeming your hot cash use it for a purchase of smaller items that are available all the time or may be on clearance and can’t be thrifted - makeup brushes are an excellent choice, but so are swimsuits, bras, hair dye, and shoes. Also sign up for the HT guestlist, they just straight-up give you money occasionally (I think it’s $5 a quarter then $5 on your birthday but hey, free money is free money). The last time I bought hair dye at HT they were having a 25% off sale and I happened to have the guestlist reward so I got $20 worth of product for $10. And if you’re on the guestlist and spend $500 (lifetime, not annual, I think it took me three years) you’ll get lifetime $2 shipping. Their “goth” stuff is usually a bit over the top and frilly but the basics of black jeans, denim vests, makeup, fishnets, and underwear are hard to beat when you’re taking advantage of their system, since you can save literally hundreds of dollars by abusing the clearance section and using hot cash. (Also if you have family or friends who are into pop culture stuff HT is a decent place to abuse this system to get them gifts - a nice purse for my cousin’s birthday is out of my price range until it’s on clearance and 25% off; I’m never ever going to pay full price to get my sister a Funko Pop figure ever again).

alright kids let’s break this down one last fuckin time (and this is a breakdown of just aesthetics)-
goth: all black, often very elaborate, gothically inspired (obviously), not branded
emo: still lots of black but much more casual, skinny jeans, certain brand shirts (usually music-themed), converse/vans, jewelry, specific hairstyles, think 2000’s hot topic kids
punk: lots of black again, very elaborate but in a completely different way, studs, chains, patches, piercings, leather, another set of specific hairstyles and bright hair colors, really rooted in anarchical themes
grunge: old clothes, flannels, oversized, layers, ripped jeans, distressed **if you’re buying “grunge” clothes new, you’re a fucking sham, the entire grunge aesthetic arose from garage bands too poor to afford clothes that weren’t thrifted, poorly sized, and already worn out**
additionally, all of these include elements of gender non-conformity and prioritize self-expression as well as identification as belonging to a group
and remember!!! all of these are actual subcultures, not just aesthetics, so when you say you’re “being goth/etc” remember to specify that you mean aesthetically, because its not fair to boil an entire subgroup of people down to just their aesthetic trends

I think one thing that a lot of Addams Family fans forget is that for the family, goth wasn’t about being gloomy and sad or bitter and cynical at all. Morticia was always gazing out at rainy days and declaring, “how beautiful a day it is!” or saying that “black is so much more cheerful!” because they found joy in their dark aesthetic. Wednesday was curious and sharp-minded and very clearly exercised and expressed her personal sense of power and self through things like her interest in weaponry and true crime - in the original series and comics, she was always dancing and playing with her brother. Edgy Wednesday didn’t happen until the 90s reboot, and well, it was the 90s. Gloomy grunge and artful sadness were in at the time. And let’s not even talk about Gomez, who was so full of life and love for his family that he’d often break into song or dip Morticia in the kitchen for an old-fashioned kiss. The Addams worked so well because they were healthy, happy, loving and goth. They were a perfect example of indulging in an aesthetic without letting it become toxic or consuming their lives.

honestly if you want to take proper care of your goths you shouldn’t take them outside in hot weather at all, just winter and MAYBE late autumn/early spring if you live in a cool climate
people really should do this kind of research before getting goths at all but as long as they’re willing to learn and adapt i guess
there are breeds of goth suitable for warmer climes but you have to be very careful when looking for one and you cannot assume that your goth is one of them if you don’t know for sure what they are
even the warm-climate breeds still usually do better in their native locale’s winter temperatures though, and shouldn’t be left outside in the summer unattended or, at the bare minimum, they should be given plentiful shade, cold water, and appropriate music to keep them calm
Honestly, if you want something less fragile than a goth, you should be considering something like a punk anyway. There’s no need to expose goths to the heat, IMHO. Admittedly there’s differences you need to do research on, but punks are very rewarding. And for God’s sake, if anyone tells you ANY emo can handle the heat, run. They don’t know what the fuck they’re talking about.
goths aren’t fragile though? they’re not heat-tolerant but they’re extremely hardy in dark and stormy weather, metal concerts, and dramatic emotional episodes. just because they aren’t well-suited to one weather pattern doesn’t mean they can’t be extremely hardy and rewarding to keep under conditions they’re better suited to.
Forget the climate thing, there’s a more important husbandry issue here: WHO THE FUCK PUT THEM OUT IN THE DAYTIME? Direct sunlight is extremely harmful to goths! THey should never be outdoors before twilight! Do your damn research, people.

goths need the opportunity to complain about sunlight, it’s vital to their wellbeing; as long as their time in it is carefully controlled and they’re given sufficient sunscreen and shade, it can be amazing and 100% necessary enrichment

Fair enough. I’ll concede that a properly-shaded porch or sunroom-type area can help them get the outdoor enrichment and complaining opportunities they need, without putting them at risk of direct sunlight or actually touching anything outdoors. But be careful not to overexpose them.

You’re thinking of either New Romantics - unfortunately presumed extinct, you could tell them apart by their lack of Victorian plumage and occasional colouration - or Emos, which are the product of a crossbreeding with Shoegazers.
As mentioned above, emos don’t handle heat well, although they do better with moderate amounts of sun than purebred goths.
If it’s the ornate Victorian aesthetic you like but you want something that can keep up with a more active, diurnal lifestyle, you might consider a steampunk or steampunk cross? I know they’re somewhat out of fashion these days, but they can be just as endearingly dramatic as other goth breeds, and they thrive on daylight outings.
If you want want to give your goth outdoor enrichment, but don’t have an enclosure with shade, parasols are helpful. Also make sure the outdoor enrichment is appropriate! Graveyard picnics are ideal.
One last bit of advice: if the choice is between an enclosure or more closet space, goths prefer the latter.
