Why are you fat?
cause everytime i fuck your dad he makes me a sandwich
and every time we kiss i swear i could fly

It's honestly such a shame that we've made such a huge thing out of swimming and swimsuits and looking good in swimsuits and fat people not looking good in swimsuits. Swimming is actually the perfect exercise for fat people because it puts zero pressure on the joints, which is a much bigger concern for us than it is for skinny people, and lets you exercise basically every muscle group without straining too much and risking injury. Yet somehow this is one of the least accessible exercises to fat people due to nothing more than a culture of body shaming. The work to unlearn all the shame to be comfortable in a bathing suit in front of strangers is huge even for conventionally attractive people, but I could probably count on one hand the number of fat people I've met who were confident enough to get in a bathing suit and go swimming in public.
And what is the exercise that somehow everyone thinks they should do instead? Jogging. It's more accessible, sure, it's easy and costs nothing to go outside and run. But I need you to understand telling a fat person to go running is basically telling them to go destroy their knees. Not to mention it's probably one of the most physically uncomfortable exercises to do when you have a body that jiggles even with compression garments.
Imagine a world where everyone had the ability and equal access to whatever exercise fit them best and helped them be happy and healthiest. Imagine a world where fat people go swimming.
Before any of the zero reading comprehension bitches get a hold of this post and do to it what they did to my other swimsuit post by saying the most annoying things on the planet: I go swimming. I am not self conscious in a bathing suit. I also don't shave my legs. I'm always the weirdest and most off-putting thing in the pool. I go swimming anyway, because I love it. Telling me "there's nothing stopping you from going swimming, just do it" would be completely missing the point. My point is I would like for it to be easier for others to get where I am, because I know how hard it was to get here.
doctors will defend having to memorize the name of every bone in the human body and then say they shouldn't have to practice on fat people because its "too hard"
the entire medical system is built on a 10-year-long hazing ritual and since the people in charge of the hazing ritual survived the hazing ritual its okay to have a hazing ritual and to haze others
also the core of this argument is that it's okay for doctors en masse not to know how to treat black people or fat people because it's okay if these demographics die for their convenience
The reason fat cadavers are not accepted for medical programmes is that you need to cut through every layer of fat carefully. Which takes time, and lab sessions are inherentely limited in that. It's better for med students to spend that time looking at what organs actually look like in bodies. This isn't fatphobia, it's just .. the way dissecting bodies works? In the same way surgeries on fat people take longer because there's just physically more tissue. The alternative would be to force the med students who get fatter cadavers to do more lab sessions at weird times outside of the usual schedules. Or force them to stay over the holidays. Or not let them get enough time to do the lab work they need to. Which imo would be a bit fucked up especially when med school is already so difficult and time-consuming.
It’s fatphobia. Fat bodies absolutely need to be studied. To ignore an entire demographic of oppressed individuals in the medical field for the sake of convenience(?!) is violence. Did you even read the article? They called working on fat cadavers “unpleasant.” It’s fatphobia and it’s unacceptable.
As a medical student who worked with donated cadavers, it absolutely is not a time limit that keeps fat bodies out of the anatomy lab. Working with fat (e.g. separating fat from the underlying tissue while dissecting) takes relatively the same amount of time whether it is a lot or a little because (especially if it is subcutaneous fat) because it's all in one layer. I would also argue that even if it did take more time, it would still be worth it because fat people exist and will be our future patients and thus need to be included in our baseline anatomy education.
the thing terfs (and transphobes in general) don't seem to get about sexual preferences re: not being attracted to certain genitals is that like. okay. you have a preference. this feature is a turn-off. but that does not mean it is necessary to constantly broadcast how unattractive and undesirable you find people with this feature. you do not have to do that. in fact, it is generally considered quite rude. sexual compatibility or lack thereof has nothing to do with moral purity or legitimacy.
likewise, if you say smth like "I WOULD NEVER HAVE SEX WITH A PERSON WHO HAS [XYZ PHYSICAL TRAIT]!!!!!" and someone else says "shut up you're being an ass," it doesn't mean that the other person is trying to force you to have sex with someone you don't want to. it means that someone noticed you're being purposefully unkind in public and wants you to stop.
"Oh sorry, you're not my type!" -> totally fine.
"Um, ew? Why would you think I'd ever date someone as disgusting as you??" -> you're a dick. Go fuck yourself
"I know you haven't said a single word to me but I need you to know I would never date you because I think you are unlovable" -> go fuck yourself with a whole cactus.
Also, if the [xyz physical trait] you're proclaiming to be utterly unattractive is a marginalized or stigmatized trait (like weight, skin color, disability and gendernonconforming bodies),
then don't be offended when people suggest that might have something to do with a learned distaste of that marginalized or stigmatized group. Especially if you're being loud and weird about how much you don't want to fuck people with that trait.
And those people are still not pushing you to go out and fuck people with that trait. In fact, they'd mostly want you to not bring your baggage to a marginalized person's bedroom. It's a suggestion to examine where your preferences come from and what you might learn about yourself by digging a little deeper into why this turns you off so much.
i think weight loss ads should be illegal and im not kidding
its always going to be fascinating to me how the most people often have to make fun of polyamorous people is to comment on how polyam people are often ugly or fat or nerdy and its like. im sorry? like im going to be real. its never rlly okay to be openly hositle to polyamorous people but im pretty sure that the ‘these people are ugly and unlikable’ angle is not going to work very well in regards to the community devoted to dating lots of other people. like its pretty funny to be like ‘this guy is so ugly and unlikable’ to a dude with four boyfriends but idk… like there has to be a point where you realize that if you can’t criticize anything without relying on being straight up mean and fatphobic maybe they’re not the problem here. no community is free of issue but if you spend more time bringing up points that legit do nothing but mock people’s interests and looks than actual points on why something is bad im pretty sure its not actually bad you’re just an asshole
Sometimes ur fat bc u were born that way. Ur parents are fat, ur cousins are fat, u always have been fat.
And sometimes, you become fat. Something happened (puberty, change in diet, change in ability, anything) and someone who was once skinny is now fat. This doesnt make you a failure. It just means ur fat now. Its okay. You didnt do something wrong.
No matter how you are fat, its okay to be fat
I just think everyone should take a moment to consider the question "what is your visual shorthand for cruelty?" and then follow it up with a critical "and who taught you that?"
specific examples include but are not limited to
guys the point is "reflect on how you have learned bigotry through exposure and you parrot it in your own works and in the fandoms you engage with without self awareness" not "tell me, specifically, what random motifs you think are evil"
on the flipside, to everyone adding notes about hooked noses, turbans + headscarves, nonwhite features and cultural clothing in general, mental and physical disorders, and surely others I've missed in recollection: you are entirely right and should say it.
Diet companies won’t tell you this but starving yourself is a lot worse for your health than overeating
Your body has a whoooole process for storing excess fats for later and cleaning out excess nutrients. Your body straight up can not run at all if you give it too little to run on. Don’t make your body pick and choose between essential processes, eat when you’re hungry.
diet culture people make me feel like i’m going crazy. you want me to take an experimental pill that destroys my appetite?? you want me to remove part of my stomach??? you want me to stop eating bread and rice, two of the staple foods most inherent to humanity????? why exactly? because my stomach is big? because you don’t like the way i look, and you think it’s reasonable to tell me to carve pieces off of myself and try random drugs and ruin my own life so i can look more visually pleasing to you? and you somehow don’t see how absurdly cruel and selfish that is to ask of somebody???? while pretending you care about their HEALTH????????????????? FUCK YOU!!!!
Also. Treat fat people with respect or die by my blade.
Very important addition.
remember in School of Rock where the black girl was afraid to say she wanted to be a singer because she was fat and didn’t want to get laughed at but Dewey was all “who gives a shit, I’m fat too and so is aretha franklin but we’re still valuable and we rock” and then the girl felt better without having to be told that beauty comes in all sizes or some other bullshit. thats the kind of body positivity I’m looking for. tell these babies that they’re worth a damn without tying it to any other arbitrary ideals
Also like. when she asks him why he isn’t on a diet. and you just know she has heard this dumb “tip” a million times before (“just go on a diet!” “if you really apply yourself you can easily use x amount of weight!” “you just don’t want it enough!”)
& Dewey just
there’s nothing wrong! with liking food! and being hungry! you don’t need to starve yourself to fit into some bs aesthetic! eat food!
Also that he cited a fat black woman singer specifically as it was the black girl who asked. gave her a direct representation of someone just like herself instead of citing anyone else

stop making fun of bad people for being fat or having small dicks or being socially awkward or whatever else you seem to think is a fair target. none of that shit has anything to do with why theyre bad. i don't care if a nazi has a stutter or a terf has thinning hair or whatever. at best youre missing the point, at worst your comments are gonna hurt vulnerable people more than they will ever affect the shitty person you're mocking. why are you so attached to these bullshit standards anyway?
I just realized I've never once heard that Jack Black, John Goodman, Josh Gad, John Favreau, John Candy, John Belushi, Chris Farley, or any of the other fat male celebrities are "promoting obesity." Not once in my life. That is almost solely reserved for fat woman.
You're right and you should say it.
Some of this is absolutely a sexist double standard, but there's another aspect to this: all of these men? Make fun of their weight. It's the butt of a lot of their comedy. It's why you don't hear about Melissa McCarthy "glorifying" obesity. Society is fine with fat people as long as they're subservient and self-hating.
This!
We stan one (1) queen.
For real though, if your activism includes putting people down for their looks instead of their attitudes, beliefs, and agendas, then I don’t want any part in your activism.
This!!!
