gonna grow you a place safer than this

@burningcomputerpersona

Currently obsessed with american pop punk band The Wonder Years. This blog is mostly just a collection of things that I'm interested in at the moment, whether it's music or a new fandom or just queer memes in general. I'll probably appear once in a while to reblog a bunch of posts about a new obsession that you didn't follow me for and then vanish off into the unknown again. Current interests include: the wonder years, spanish love songs, hot mulligan, against me, doctor who, etc.

a helpful tutorial

I was taking with my friend about good omens and we were wondering how the hell aziraphale-as-crowley managed to get into that bath without getting his socks wet and so I drew this ‘helpful’ guide.

I like to imagine that all the demons had to just awkwardly stand around watching him clamber around getting into this bathtub… @neil-gaiman can you confirm?

This is even better than the people trying to get Good Omens cancelled on Netflix. I might confirm it when I stop laughing.

I have been thinking about this scene a lot and while I appreciate the OP’s version as well as the very fine illustration, I can’t help but slightly disagree.  I have always seen Crowley stand at the foot edge of the tub, raise his arms dramatically, falling backward in slow motion with an evil grin on his face, making a massive splash like the dramatic bitch that he is.  It took a minor miracle to not get his socks wet, but it was worth it.  Now I need an illustration of the entry I described for comparison…. for science of course.

a comparison! (for science, of course)

…okay, but can we consider this option? for arguments sake?

ignore that i ordered it backwards

I imagined a lot of things while we were making Good Omens. I never ever once imagined this thread.

This. Is. Pure. Fucking. GOLD.

crowley. rocking up to the apocalypse battle armed with only a tool of creation. a demon who never fired a gun until his forbidden love roped him into participating in a homoerotic public trustfall. designing all the work he did for hell to spread negativity over such a large number of people that to each individual it would just be a drop in the bucket. babygirl there is something about you.

I know how everyone sees just how badly Crowley and Aziraphale are treated by Heaven and Hell, often even resulting in physical and emotional abuse.

But... imagine how worse it is for all the other angels and demons.

Aziraphale and Crowley have had the privilege of being relatively free from Hell and Heaven. They've spent most of their existence on Earth, watching sunsets, eating food, drinking tea, wine and cocoa, talking to people, driving, wearing fancy clothes, experiencing different cultures, seeing fireworks, going to the beach, taking care of plants, looking at trees, smelling flowers, exploring different cities etc.

And they are the only two who have that.

Muriel hasn't even been to earth. Think about that for a second. Thousands of years trapped in an all white office, no colour in sight, doing paperwork over and over and over for eternity. They even mentioned they only speak to someone every 100 years. Imagine not speaking to anyone for decades... They probably haven't even held hands with anyone, never hugged anyone, never held or been held by anyone. Shax and Furfur also being sat on a desk and checking people in for centuries. Beelzebub having a dank and claustrophobic office, stuck doing paperwork every single day. The demon who gets his tongue ripped out on a regular. 10 million angels and demons doing the same old chore every day for thousands of years.

Point is, no matter how awful Crowley and Aziraphale are treated by their respective head offices, they most likely got the best end of the deal. And that's somehow both very comforting and very bittersweet.

I love this scene so so much, not only because of the stunning non-binary representation but because of how comfortable Crowley is with Ms Sandwich. He doesn't correct other people for calling him man/sir/Mr, like with R.P. Tyler, but feels safe enough around this group, and that is so so heartwarming. Just the way he feels more comfortable around people society sees as "lower class" like Ms Sandwich and Elsbeth is so goddamn sweet and I love him so much.

(Also him saying "but thank you" for being called "good" and not get prissy like he did for being called nice. He's come so far I'm so proud of him)

Do ya'll think Aziraphale would have gone to Heaven if Crowley had come back to the bookshop and didn't go with Muriel.

Because they have this thing, where Aziraphale gets into trouble and Crowley rescues him, time and time again. It's a game, it's a theme that they are both aware of. And they've grown accustomed to this pattern, just one of those things you don't have to voice to know they're true.

And Aziraphale probably thought Crowley was coming back for him. He even tells Nina he didn't think of a plan farther than the candles, because he didn't think he needed it, because he thought Crowley was coming back for him. He was only stalling for time.

But Crowley didn't come back for him, and Aziraphale had no idea where he went. For all he knew he could have gotten hurt. "I'll come back for you" Aziraphale knows Crowley wouldn't lie about this. Not about serious matters.

So he eventually realises he has to fend for himself, that he's alone and he has to rescue himself this time. Also being under the pressure to protect Maggie and Nina as well as finding Crowley as fast as possible. For all he knows Crowley is in trouble himself.

And he does it. He does it all by himself. And imagine the sheer power and confidence boost that probably gave him.

Going to Heaven, he was probably thinking if I can fend for himself, fend off a dozen demons, and save Maggie and Nina without anyone's help, then maybe I could do this as well.

If only Crowley had told him the truth about Gabriel and what Heaven is capable of doing...

Aziraphale is brave... but he's in very serious danger now.

No you don't understand, he could have driven away in agony listening to whatever sad ass break up song there is at full volume (we all know it would be "love of my life" by queen) but he didn't. Even after being rejected MULTIPLE times by aziraphale he still stands there, hoping so desperately that the angel might have changed his mind. He's not willing to give up just yet. I'M SOBBING

I don't even know if he's hoping to change Aziraphale's mind at this point. Crowley is so very aware of how stubborn and proud and single bloody minded Aziraphale can be. I interpreted it almost as a stare of defiance, 'You've made the wrong choice, but do you really think I'll leave you? You think this changes how I feel? Well bad news angel, even now, even after all this, you're stuck with me'

To me it felt like through Crowley's grief, he just desperately wanted to convey to Aziraphale that if he reaches out to him even for a moment, he'll be waiting

I'm sorry I know it's been a month now since Good Omens season2 came out but I still can't believe the "I'm not actually. Either" line.

Like huuhh??? Non binary representation said out loud?? Without making a fuss?? Or a big dramatic coming out fiasco???? And no transphobia??? AND ONE OF THE TWO MAIN CHARACTERS SAID IT????

THE MAIN CHARACTER BRO!! WHERE DO YOU HAVE THAT??? OH THATS RIGHT. NOWHEEEREE

People always talk about how Crowley witnessed the injustice and cruelty of Heaven in season 1 when they tried to execute Aziraphale. "Shut your stupid mouth" and the fact that he wasn't even given a trial and why he understands Heaven can't be fixed much better than Aziraphale can who wasn't there.

But what about Aziraphale. After going down to Hell himself to see how Crowley was treated, the environment he had to work in, the people he was surrounded by, he most likely swore to himself Crowley was never going down there again. Not if he can help it.

And now he can.

It's not about changing Crowley or not liking him as he is. But about saving him and keeping him safe.

Crowley's protectiveness was one of the most wonderful things this season and notice how despite how fierce and strong it was, it was never toxic.

And this is one of my favorite things about Crowley. Usually the goth emo "male" love interest is depicted so poorly in movies and tv shows as possesive, obsessive, mysoginistic or narcisisstic. And Crowley is so... not. He's soft and kind and always so gentle with Aziraphale.

Aziraphale made his own choices the entire time, was never belittled or controlled or made to feel weak and stupid for them. Crowley wasn't there to tell him what he should do, he was there to help, if and whenever Aziraphale needed him. He was simply there, beside him the whole time.

Point is he's one of the best characters ever written (along with Azi ofc)
