"But 22 episodes is too much to binge in one session!"

Perhaps we should not consume our entertainment like an eating disorder.

Have something to look forward to every thurday for half a year. A week to build up excitement and theories between episodes (or to yk, be too busy to watch). Time to create art about it.

fandom tumblr was another casualty of streaming services. we used to be on here posting about the episodes that were coming out weekly and posting gifs and writing insane shit about the tv shows we liked. now a new season of a show will drop and we’ll talk about it for a week. two weeks tops. and then that show will leave collectively conscious for 1+ year till the next season drops. there’s a reason succession sundays was a blast on here

we used to have real television

The line ‘ARE YOU HALF ASSING THE GAY LIFETSYLE’ speaks to me on a personal level

I love how they’re not even mad about their son beinf gay but like BITCH WE‘RE MEETING HIM AND IF WE DONT YOURE A DISGRACE

The parental guilt trip is so fucking universal omg I love it.

You hide your boyfriend from your parents?! You hide your boyfriend like you are ashamed??!!! Oh jail for son!! Jail for son for 1000 years!!!

HOLD THE PHONE there’s a live action version of What Did You Eat Yesterday?? how did I not know this!?

everyone should read the manga this is based on! the protagonist is a 40 year old Shiro, a gay lawyer who is somewhat neurotic and is not used to society being increasingly accepting of gay people since he’s been in the closet for so long. Introverted Shiro is held in contrast to his boyfriend Kenji, who is out and proud and a social butterfly. The story is a slow paced character study on aging gay couples and how being queer is perceived by society. We get the perspectives of the gay couple, their families, their friends and their co-workers.

btw this line in the manga was “is being gay a joke to you??”

i'm sorry but this shit annoys me to no end. like this is about heartstopper and you all need to stop acting like that show invented everything.

fucking anyways

1. Koisenu Futari

Show that’s specifically made to be about aromanticism and asexuality as well as how aroace people are perceived by society. They are main characters. That’s the main plot.

Watched all of these and want more? Well, my friends, there actually is even more! Especially if you are open to shows that are not spoken in English.

7. Konya Sukiyaki Dayo (Tonight is Sukiyaki Night)

A show focused on a friendship between these 2 women, one of who is aromantic. The show is not an aromantic coming out story, instead Asano Tomoko often just casually mentions her aromanticisim, and explains or shows how she experiences or wants things differently compared to her allo friends.

8. She loves to cook and she loves to eat

Another show focusing on two wonderful women. These neighbours come together due to their love of food. One loves to cook, the other loves to eat. Their relationship develops wonderfully and slowly into a romance. This drama is based on a manga with the same name, which in volume 3 confirms one of these two women as an ace lesbian. The drama will be getting a second season which hopefully will also cover that part of the story.

9. I Will be your Bloom/Kimi no Hana ni Naru

The woman who brought you Cherry Magic! and Koisenu Futari, has written an aroace character into another show. Onodera Takara is part of a boyband who are trying to reach fame. He is aroace and when he brings it up it is met with only acceptance and love. This one is even on Netflix in some countries!

Honary mention to Takasugi Ume from I will Do It in the Next Life (Raise de wa Chanto Shimasu) who is very much confidently aroace, but I have not finished watching the drama yet.

Also, if you want to watch Koisenu Futari, Konya Sukiyaki Dayo or She loves to cook and she loves to eat, but don’t know how to find or watch them. Feel free to message me. These shows are all wonderful and I will be happy to help you.

im surprised tumblr hasnt jumped on dead end paranormal park, or maybe i just havent seen it in my circles. Its got a fat gay transmasc lead, a most likely autistic lead, found family, demons, a bunch of other kinds of queer rep, and a talking dog. and it talks so openly about the topic of being trans in a way i havent seen in a kids show before. especially not for a trans male.

this is pretty incredible stuff. and aside from the rep its also pretty funny and an overall enjoyable watch. Never feels forced. Its the kind of kids show i wish i had grown up with. Of course netflix has once again taken it upon themselves to completely neglect advertising it, so i thought i might make a little post to inform you that its a pretty good show and you should watch it if you're into that stuff. :)
