Quick! The first OC you think of is dropped in the world of the last movie/show you watched. How are they faring?
making some oc sticker sheets
shoutout to people who made ocs with a friend but then the friendship died. to people who can't talk about their ocs without talking about their friend and the influence the friend had on the ocs. to people who can never share those ocs again because nobody wants to hear them whine about an old friend. I see you, I love you, may we all find peace
My Death Note OC, Elise Adams. Some of you may remember her from my fic Clumsy (although I doubt it lmao, haven't updated that since September) but figured I'd give her an updated design since I've overhauled her after I put that fic on hiatus and have started a WIP where she's the main character instead of mother to the main character (not posted yet but hopefully within the year or early 2025). Elise is an art counterfeiter, forging paintings so her thief husband can swap them out without too much worry about it being noticed by the owners until its too late. She seems to have a personal grudge against L even post Kira case although refuses to explain why.
(@bunnyinatree look its our girl!)
"having a crush can make you act a little crazy" fuck that y'all ever made original characters
love never made me type "blender tutorial absolute beginner" into google. just saying
“The characters in my novels are my own unrealized possibilities. That is why I am equally fond of them all and equally horrified by them. Each one has crossed a border that I myself have circumvented. It is that crossed border (the border beyond which my own “I” ends) which attracts me most. For beyond that border begins the secret the novel asks about. The novel is not the author’s confession; it is an investigation of human life in the trap the world has become.”
— Milan Kundera, The Unbearable Lightness of Being (trans. Michael Henry Heim)
did you guys know about this oc stuff. you can just make a guy. big if true
but watch out. theyre in your brain now
everyone should be weirder about their ocs more.
fake movie posters and comic book covers. visual novels. rpg maker games. fics. websites dedicated to your ocs. custom oc merch to wear or decorate your house with. surreal art that some old guy from the 1600s woulda painted. i want to see it ALL
I feel like in the eye of the artist, "To be loved is to be changed" can be very much applied to the characters we create. Changing our old designs of our beloved creations to improve them in our eyes, spending countless hours in continuing to make them perfect via research and making more tweaks and concepts for them. I feel like that redesigning shows how loved they are rather than the overall lack of redesign.
having tortured ocs is so funny bc some of em im projecting personal issues onto & some of em im just like Fuck You. Random Chimp Event
when making a character, u have to ask urself:
- are they bloody?
- will they ever be bloody?
- is it their blood or somebody elses blood theyre covered in?
- why are they bloody?
- how drenched in blood are they going to be from a scale of 1-10, with 1 being ''barely drenched'' and 10 being ''so covered we shld ask where there ISNT any blood on them''?
Don’t forget the oc lore when you start putting that oc in other universes
Hey,
Go with whatever you define as an original character, in your heart.
Please share, I want to see what the average is
self care is making your original content even if you think you’re the only one who likes it
hey it’s okay. maybe you’ll feel better if you imagine your OCs in fucked up situations
Honestly be pretentious as fuck about the stuff you create. Do a press release for your fanfic updates. Do a Q&A about your webcomic. Make fake merch designs for your OCs. Commission "official" book covers. Very few of us will ever get to a stage where something we've created Makes It Big but even if you have an audience of 5 people plus a shoelace fucking indulge yourself and pretend!! It's the only way to live!!
me constantly releasing press junkets about my OCs like they are actual celebrities and i am their PR agent
