i love the fact that as the season went on you could see yassen seeming more unable to immediately deflect every time alex tried to appeal to a softer side of him, that scene in the back of the van he was sooooo close to opening up to alex and saying something personal but then he shuts it back down

he knows alex wanted to be there at scorpia for his own personal reasons but in his mind if alex is going to be there he has to be there properly, else he will get killed so he tries and tries to get alex to remove all emotion from his actions, but in the end it's alex that wins out and once julia reveals she only wants alex by her side to watch him die yassen knows he's done with this, done with julia, done with scorpia - alex is his priority

a line that always sticks with me from season 2 is where alex says that as long as yassen is around none of them are safe, and the irony is is that in fact as long as yassen is around him alex will always be safe when it comes to life or death because when push comes to shove yassen will always ultimately choose to protect alex
