Hello, I go by Fizzy on here

“why is it always the woman who has to see past the beast in the man? why does she always have to clean his wounds, even after he has damaged her beyond repair? why is it always the man who is worthy of forgiveness for being a monster? I want to see the beast in the beauty. the half smile, half snarl. the unapologetic anger. I would like to see the man forgive the monster. to see her, blood and all, and love her anyway.”

You know what I wanted to see really badly in Young Justice?

Artemis and Robin together.

Their chemistry was just fantastic as friends and they got along and they could’ve taken care of each other and been in love and just had fun. Like, they already had everything they needed! Trust, faith, friendship, chemistry, common interests. He treated her so well considering she could’ve been a mole, and she had so much respect for everything he was.

Just… Traught.

What are some of your Traught headcanons?

Hello! I’d be happy to give some Traught headcanons, maybe with some added Wally :)

  • The three of them are insanely competitive. At any given point, they’ll be engaged in some kind of shenanigan.
  • Dick had a habit of just popping up in Gotham (as Robin) at Artemis’ window. At first, she found it incredibly irritating and 75% of the time she wouldn’t let him in. He stopped doing it as much when he became Nightwing, and oddly enough she found herself missing it. After Wally died, she left her window open for weeks, but he never came.
  • Dick and Artemis get into random-ass fistfights, a lot. It’s not serious. More of a ‘who can best the other’ type deal. He’ll say something to provoke her and she’ll immediately get on her guard. The score is 75 A - 109 D. Much to her chagrin.
  • Dick has an open invitation to the Harper-Crock household. It was extended when Artemis expressed how concerned she was for him following Wally’s ceasing. He’s only shown up a handful of times, and it’s usually when Lian is around so nobody can talk about anything serious.
  • Every year on Dick’s birthday, (after learning his identity) Artemis gets him tickets to the circus. Before Wally ceased, the three of them would go, order a mountain of junk food, and enjoy themselves. Dick would critique the acrobats’ performance the entire time, but Wally and Artemis knew well enough to look past it to see how much he enjoys it.
  • Dick has about 6,053 images on his phone of Artemis. 4,278 of them are incredibly unattractive, taken just to piss her off.
  • Artemis has been Dick’s date, on more than one occasion, to the annual Wayne charity gala.
  • Wally used to joke about Dick ‘stealing his girlfriend’ on multiple occasions. Artemis would smirk and say she’d go with whoever lasts longer.

MEEP.

Artemis is SUCH a brutal fighter. Seriously. No rust on her.

I hurt on Dickiebird’s behalf.

But also… I’m wondering why the fight’s staged in the cave and wondering if Dick is holding back because he’s loathe to hit his other half the deep cover issue. Or because he knows she needs an outlet to get that tumultuous thunderhead of bad emotions. I lean toward the latter, simply because Dick’s extremely in tune with Artemis. And because he’s a Professional Emotional Martyr.

random ficlet i don’t have the energy to pursue but really enjoy:

artemis is a passionate and sometimes reckless ghost hunter who will go into the darkest, rustiest, scariest old haunted places shouting for spirits to show themselves. she has been exorcised several times by her mother, priests of several religions, and witch/ex-girlfriend zatanna. all of them firmly tell her not to antagonize spirits, and she completely ignores them to continue hunting ghosts. she’s controversial whether one believes in ghosts or not, yet everyone agrees it’s pretty fun watching her.

one day dick grayson asks for artemis’ help contacting his parents from beyond the grave. he doesn’t really believe it will work, but whenever this sort of thing comes up, he has a little bit of hope.

artemis points over his shoulder and says, “they’re right there.”

“ha, ha, very funny.”

artemis sighs. she starts to describe his mother and father, down to the clothes they were wearing when they died.

dick runs through all sorts of rationalizations in his head. she could have done some research. what happened to his family is fairly well known, and he’s still pretty high profile as the adopted son of bruce wayne. even if he’s caught her by surprise, someone could be feeding her info on a wire. etc.

then she tells him, “every night before you go to sleep, you look at the picture on your bedside table and say good night to your parents. they hear you, by the way.”

this is something he hasn’t even told alfred, let alone bruce, because he always feels a little guilty about missing his parents so much after so long, and he’s also pretty sure they’d both send him to therapy.

“you don’t need me,” artemis says. “go home.”

he’s back the very next day, banging on her door.

Are you accepting AUs?!? Could you do a traught AU where Artemis is Damians (did I spell that right I'm never sure) nanny and Alfred and him at matchmaker for her and Dick?!?

Avatar

Artemis practically collapsed into the chair at the kitchen table, lamenting not for the first time the lack of a privacy clause in her contract as she nursed a powerful headache–courtesy of not the one, but two brats she had to take care of last night.

Thing Two took the time to wave at her from across the table, his shockingly blue eyes showing no trace of the exhaustion that any lesser being would undoubtedly have been plagued with after staying up until five am playing and winning Monopoly against a child-sized megalomaniac and his nanny. She fought the urge to wave back. With her fist.

Assessing the situation in a way only the butler and caretaker to Batman could, Alfred quickly placed a large cup of coffee before her. Grabbing hold of it nearly as fast, she started to gulp it down, but not before sending the man a small thankful smile. She didn’t see Damian’s snort, or the way he leaned in closer to Dick and pointed out, “Pennyworth is already farther along than you. If you don’t do anything, they’ll be running off to elope by the end of the day."

Artemis did however, catch the strangled cry Damian gave when Dick lobbed a hash brown at his face.

So I’m watching Homefront again

And I just really really really love the way Dick reacts to Artemis’ anger

He doesn’t lash back at her, or even insult her, no, he’s just letting it bounce off because he knows she doesn’t mean it.

The only time that Dick really even responds to her freaking out is when he tells her to get traught, and that’s more of telling her to snap out of it, that she was better than this, that she needed to get it together for all their sakes, not just hers.

He’s forcing her to go out her long held mindset of only thinking of herself (which her father trained her to do), forcing her to accept that it’s okay to worry about friends but that this wasn’t the time to get caught up in these new feelings of caring for teammates (or having teammates to care for), and just being a really really really good counterweight to her.

so yea I just really love these two

Mm hm, beautiful people, beautiful episode.

Artemis has learned to communicate primarily through confrontation. Her father taught her to be merciless, emotionless, and cold on a mission, to answer problems with cruelty and force. I highly doubt the themes of “teamwork,” “effective communication skills,” or “confidence” factored into that training. Many of her interactions with people either involve some form of verbal jousting or physical violence towards the beginning of the show. She has a hard time communicating in any other way, and “healthy vulnerability” is not a phrase in her emotional dictionary.

At first when Artemis joins the team, she doesn’t really jell with them. Wally rubs her the wrong way; M'gann is appalled by Artemis’ open perusal of Conner, and Roy (even though he’s not an official team member) is outright hostile towards her. Dick is the only one who defends her, who tells Wally to give the new girl the benefit of the doubt.

Dick gets where she is coming from. He understands her reasons for being the way she is, and he accepts her for it. In Homefront, Dick is the first one to really show her how working as a team functions. How fighting as equals and as friends can be a good thing. How to handle the threat of your friends getting hurt or killed.

When she reaches out for his help, he takes her by the hand and guides her through it, acting as the yang to her yin.

In their relationship, Artemis is more conspicuously dominant. She yells, she pushes, she is stubborn. But Dick is probably more inconspicuously dominant. Dick is very good at maniuplating things so that they happen without it being obvious that he was pushing for it – and not necessarily in a bad way. It’s more like easing things or making them seem natural. It’s the best way to deal with Artemis sometimes, given that she tends to bolt or rebel when she doesn’t like something.
