I could be crazy but I feel like despite all the anger and pain Jinx felt towards Vi, she could never bring herself to actively kill her. Which is why I’m their fight scene Jinx easily accepts her fate. If it was Jinx on the other end, having the upper hand and being able to kill Vi with one strike; I feel like she would’ve hesitated big time. That’s why the explosion seems like it was supposed to take her out anyway.

Like it was supposed to be her last big explosion. She dies in a way she feels she deserves and she also does something good for the undercity, killing two birds with one stone.

But, Isha changed that. I also feel like Jinx found it hard to accept the fact someone cares enough about her to risk their life for her. Someone innocent, especially

I mean look at her expressions here

She looks panicked, yes. But also really confused. Nothing is going how she planned, and why is this persistent little girl turning herself into a human shield for her???

She really is a speckle of hope in Jinx’s life. I really love the direction they’re going with Isha.

Rewatching Arcane and I’ll never get over the fact that there is no indication that Caitlyn returns to Piltover to get paperwork to break Vi out, doubled with the fact that Jayce clearly had no idea she had done so, which means while she’s still healing from the bomb attack she ran away from home, impersonated an officer (dressing as an enforcer despite being freshly fired) and brought paperwork with her with the intent of forgery originally just to hopefully get a name from a prisoner because she was obsessively overconfident of the fact she’s a better detective than anyone else. Absolutely tickles me.

My crimes are justified because I’m right.” This woman is insane.

This is even funnier now in s2, especially in the context of her forming her Strike Team. Just walks right into a meeting she’s not invited to, with Hextech weapons she’s already coerced Jayce into making and with an unqualified Zaunite she essentially bought a badge for, and lays out her plan like “I’m not asking permission, I’m letting you know.

Now we’re giving this woman absolute military authority. :)))))

[Video transcript: Let's make lahsa, a wonderful Yemeni breakfast. it's cheesy, gooey, and so light you can finish an entire pan. Having it for breakfast will put a smile on your face. If you love shakskuka, lahsa's gonna make you unfaithful. Start by chopping a large onion, 2 large tomatoes, and some chiles. Sauté the onion in some olive oil--Al Wali, of course. Once the onions start to brown, add the tomatoes. Season with salt, pepper, cumin, coriander, paprika, tomato puree, and any spices that you like. You're the boss of your lahsa. Add the chiles, and let the tomatoes cook till dissolved. Crack 3 eggs on top, add a splash of water, and mix it very thoroughly on low. Spread some liquid cheese* on top while it's cooking. You can also use cream cheese if you want. I think this is where the name comes from, the cheese being spread into a thin layer.

Cover, and let it cook for a couple of minutes. Garnish with some green. Have it with bread, a cup of tea, and enjoy.

end transcript]

*in the notes, several people suggest the liquid cheese is labneh

I’ve talked before about how much I adore 90′s dubs for the combination of total enthusiasm but not necessarily great performances, and the dub for You’re Under Arrest (Taiho Shichauzo) is like… peak 90′s dub.

I was curious though, how much of this read was just the actress doing her own thing and how much of it was trying to be faithful to the Japanese read, and to my surprise, it’s almost entirely trying to maintain the same energy as the Japanese.

Was gonna make a post about that and Nate goes and saves me the time! <3

Vander was so absent he pushed so much of the "mom" job on to Vi, a likewise traumatized kid. Jinx steps on a battlefield, sees her dead parents, and then gets mostly raised by her preteen sister. Her brother bullies her for unknown years, her sister hits her on occasion... Enforcers abuse her in the streets, her siblings' idea of "making it" in the world is stealing and fighting over their loot. She's actively encouraged to make bombs that will harm people, for the sake of their little dysfunctional tribe...

Assuming she's about 11 years old by act I, she's spent about 6 years with her family, dirt poor in the slums, then 5 years with Vander, then ~7 years with Silco?

The whole of Zaun bears responsibility for the monster Jinx becomes, and Zaun is the result of Piltover's systemic abuse.

Hot take, Heimerdinger is the one to blame for Jinx, not Silco.

Right like how the hell did Vander allow his little girl to constantly be running off with her much older siblings? Like he knows they're going to be up to no good and he knows Zaun is dangerous, he should be making her ass stay home.

And I'm sure the other siblings are exhausted. Vi constantly has to be looking out for her and the boys never get a moment to themselves or with Vi without Jinx's presence.

But that's the kicker! Vander runs a business! Multiple if you count the lanes as its own thing. Imagine keeping 4 kids to stay put at home in Zaun. Who would stay behind to look after Powder?

Nannies aren't an option. They're clearly not going to any school. There is no infrastructure. They're on the street or at home, and in the streets, being social and involved with others, at least they are learning about being street-smart and life in their community.

Besides, the heist of the little gang is 100% Vi's responsibility, as Vander very clearly signified Pitover was off limits.

Zaun will always be dangerous, and Vi makes it very clear that kids are expected to be able to do certain things (as when she tells Cait Powder could parkour better than her by 7yo). It's a matter of survival.

And look, even Renni's boy was working in the shimmer factory. Being part of the community is important. He's learning the ropes before succeeding her, I'm sure (RIP), and Vander's kids likewise would be expected to not be holed up at home with nannies.

It's not Vander's fault. There is no infrastructure for children.

Jinx is literally the proverb:

"The child who is not embraced by the village will burn it down to feel its warmth."

And the village is Piltover, as it considers the Undercity (in terms of resource exploitation) part of itself while letting it languish in squalor at every level.

Silco and Vander, too, are byproducts of that neglect. The issues of Arcane are not individual so much as systemic, and how those systemic failures feed individual actions.

The point isn't who is the 'better' or 'worse' Dad for Jinx. It's how they're both reacting to a setup that feeds off of their traumas, and the different ways each one reacts to that trauma by projecting their deepest failings and most ardent wishes onto their children, and protecting said children based on the mental paradigms that best served them in surviving in an unjust system.

They are parenting the best way they know how - and it is not enough. It will never be enough, because the game's rigged in advance, and the odds will never be in the favor, whether you're the cherished little monster of Zaun's most prolific kingpin, or the most adored youngest child of the powerhouse of the Lanes.

Zaun's been a historic loser at every structural level, and it is the Piltovan Council's doing, whether intentional or not.

here is the game that mohamed’s son, abdul-rahman, enjoys playing with the kitten that has joined their camp! mohamed tells me that the kitten jumps onto the scooter over and over begging to be pushed around. this sweet scene is a moment of relief between intense aerial bombardments, disease endured without access to expensive medicines, injuries that cannot begin to heal, and constant horror and death all around this family. the children’s mother, manal, is suffering from late-stage cancer and is currently in a coma.

while the al-manasra family’s gofundme is paused due to a technicality, can you help get money to their fundraiser organizer’s cashapp, venmo, or paypal (for donors outside the US)?

cashapp link (for americans)

venmo link (for americans - please do not indicate anything having to do with palestine in description)

paypal link (for everyone outside US - please make sure your donation is listed as “personal” and not business)

thank you thank you thank you!!!! please circulate!!!

please remember the al manasra family today! the issue with the gofundme has been weighing heavily on mohamed’s mind, even as his wife is in a coma and constant bombing near their tents threaten the lives of his children. you can give them hope for survival and escape by sending money via the links above.

please share + amplify + send directly to a friend if you can. please give some money today. every little bit means the world to this family.

can you please help this family today?

I just realized where this Isha and Jinx hug is going to take place.

If you notice there are regularly positioned openings in the wall, with a red line painted in front of it.

Yup. Isha is in Stillwater.

Caitlyn is now throwing children under the age of 10 in Stillwater. If you thought Vi had it bad…

HELLO????? NO I CANT. CAIT WTH ARE YOU DOING.

I guess no one had a second thought about putting a child in there. At least she seems to be with Jinx supporters, so they would protect her. I hope she wasn’t in there long. An hour is too much, but if it’s more than a day I will throw hands with Caitlyn.
