Unfamiliarity was something that Y/N could never coop with, she liked living in her routine-based life. She’d wake up every morning at 6am, check her phone until 6:15, shower, get dressed, eat her daily breakfast of rice, eggs and apple slices, cleaning up her dishes and going to her bathroom to brush her teeth all before 6:45. The feeling of comfort was her top priority and it was something that made her calm. Sure people called her boring, especially her best friend Hoseok, who was always the advocate for her to go out and try something new, even if it was just going out to a club or a party that had been thrown at him in the last few hours that he’d eagerly drag her to, but it was nothing but discomfort for her.

Notes: I’ve been ‘hoarding’ this in my drafts forever. It was literally only missing a paragraph. I’ve considered the idea of doing something for hybrids for a while, and I kept getting asked about it, so this is my attempt! I wanted to do something other than the ole’ cat and dog thing. Also, keep in mind that the plan for this fic to is write it in a way that I can keep adding to it for as long as I want to. I have no definite end in mind as of yet. I figured I’d release it to give you guys something to read while you wait for Faith. 

Some days you praised Kwon Soonyoung for being the best friend and overall human being on the planet. Other days, you cursed the day you became friends. Today felt like it was going to be the latter. 

“I really don’t know about this, Soonyoung. It just seems so wrong,” you grimaced as he pulled you along towards the grey-bricked and incredibly ridiculous building.

Jeongguk always wanted his life to be an adventure, something of legend. Ever since he was a kid he’s been trying to leave his mark on the world, to explore and conquer. He spent most of his youth in the woods behind his house, building forts with his brother and pretending to be the great explorers he read about in school. Pirates were his favorite, not that he’d ever admit that. The idea of being on the open water, using the stars to guide him, the whole world at his fingertips, made him almost feel at home. Like it was where he belonged.

Of course he had to grow up eventually, that’s what everyone told him anyway. No more childish whims, no more reckless endeavors through the woods, he had to put that all behind him to focus on what really mattered. Go to school, get good grades, get a job, marry a pretty woman, have kids, teach your kids to do the same. That was what Jeongguk had to set his dreams aside for. Because adventure wasn’t going to get him anywhere in life, he had to be sensible, realistic. Submissive to what the world wanted.

That didn’t stop him, not for long. He moved to Seoul for school, it’s what his parents wanted, but what he did from then on out was his own business. There was a newfound sense of freedom, one that he sorely missed. When he wasn’t going to class or studying he would go looking for adventure like he used to, and in Seoul there was endless possibilities. Sneaking into the pool after hours, finding underground rap battles and staying for the cheap beer, even driving aimlessly through the streets late at night. Anything could be an adventure if you let it.

Except one day while he was out looking for adventure, he found trouble instead.

Or, more accurately, trouble found him.

Wednesday starts with you waking up shivering to white morning light. You suppose it’s the price to pay for having such a cheap apartment so close to campus and your yoga studio, but you still don’t like it. All you can do is curse the changing seasons as you shove your feet into thick socks and squint at your heater. The skirting boards lining your walls looked to be about your parent’s age, and despite the fact that you were a competent engineering student, there were some projects even you wouldn’t take on alone. Especially if you wanted to get your security deposit back. Little did you know that this was the beginning of what you’d later call the worst week of your life. Or at the very least the worst one in the last 6 months.

Your bus arrives late, so you sprint and still have to do the walk of shame into your physics class. The professor eyes you disappointedly and you shove yourself into a spot that’s not your usual. The kid next to you breathes too loudly, making note-taking a living hell.

The little takeaway container that you’d gotten from the cafeteria so you could have lunch on the go exploded as you were on your way to the library. The smell of broccoli lingers on your pants for a long while, but the bright side is you get a whole table to yourself despite the midterm crowd that floods the quiet space.

It takes way longer to leave the library than you expected because you make yet another mistake in your code and have to scour through the blocks of blinking, green text against the dark background of your terminal until your eyes water. It takes two hours but you manage to find a misplaced 3 and a really dumb arithmetic error that has you wanting to tear your hair out.

Shrugging, you take a moment to sit up and ruffle your hair, stretching your overworked sheet covered body like a cat. Namjoon had woken you two more times during the night, claiming he was making up for lost time. You felt sore, and your body ached in ways that it hadn’t in years.
