"I'm afraid you'll replace me" with Yoongi please :) for Admin Sky
if there’s one thing you and min yoongi have in common, it’s a stoic, taciturn personality.
they always say that you have to find someone who is your other side of the same coin, the yin to your yang, the black to your white in order for a relationship to work. so for years you've been dating the boys who are the exact opposite from you, boys who’d rather go out than stay in, those who wear their hearts on their sleeves, boys with no ambition at all. but each and every relationship had only ended in a barrage of tears, welled up frustration and a deep seated sense of loss. after brushing off the first few boys as just simply a misfit, an unsettling sense of what if there’s something wrong with me? began to haunt you, and after a few more hastily ended relationships, you’re convinced that it must be you, not them.
until you meet min yoongi.
at first you’re awash with a sense of disbelief at how someone can be so similar to you. but similarity breeds fondness, and you appreciate the small things that you do with each other, or don’t do. an ideal night for the both of you is doing nothing in each other’s company, just laying around the house in complete silence, communicating through quick, loaded glances and fleeting touches. and it’s the silence between you that you cherish the most, the unsaid words suspended in between that says the most. he hates to express his feelings, just as you’re uncomfortable with those famous three words, but he lets you know all the same when he offers to take out the trash, makes you a late night snack when you’re trying to finish a paper, or does your laundry (which he absolutely, absolutely hates).
but the one thing that min yoongi hates more than ever is goodbyes. you feel the weight of his gaze on your back as you struggle to close your suitcase, and this is one of the rare times in which you avoid his eyes entirely. he’s content to watch you struggle for a few more minutes, as if awarding you with your due punishment for having to go overseas for your degree and leaving him like this. but soon he relents and nudges you aside, placing a knee on the upper shell of your lime green suitcase and zipping the main compartment shut in a single motion.
“I’ll drive you to the airport,” he says, and you know he hates doing this because he doesn’t even send family members off.
“it’s okay, i already called a cab,” you reach to smooth a thumb over his cheek, already all too familiar with how much he craves your touch, even if he’d die before admitting it. you take a step toward the door, getting ready to drag your suitcase behind you when he grabs your wrist.
“Wait,” he looks unsure of himself, one of the rare moments where he’s tongue tied and a little flustered. he’s almost always calm and composed, so seeing him like this comes as a surprise and you raise your eyebrows in response.
yoongi steels himself with a breath that makes his entire chest rise. “do you really have to go?” he winces immediately after the words have left his mouth.
“we talked about this, remember? it’s a once in a lifetime opportunity, you know that.”
“i know.” yoongi is a person who relies more on logic than on emotion, so technically he should understand that this is the best choice for you, and it’d be stupid to give it up. “it’s just... i’m afraid you’ll replace me.”
his rare show of insecurity makes your heart leap into your throat, because god does he look lonely already, standing there and watching you with a forlorn look in his eyes.
“never,” you whisper to him, and that word alone seems to ease the tension in his shoulders. “i’ll never find someone who loves being alone more than i do.”
he gives you a wry little smile. “ then i’ll wait for you to come back and be alone with me.”
“it’s a deal.”
