senior year is busy. Last semester, I gave a new face and hair to a previously-known-as-Josefina who needed some love. I want to give her a fun cottagecore wardrobe eventually, but this hand-sewn getup will have to do for now!

I can rest happy now. My whole roommate group had a trip to GirlAgain because one of my friends wanted to ‘heal her childhood and buy a doll’.

Miss Molly was in the fixer upper discount bin (albeit, her head detached from her body) From what I gather, her wig condition was not salvageable to the resale store’s standards and thus, I got her cheap.

She got a baking soda scrubbing, etc., and I will be doing something about restoring/replacing her hair as it’s severely matted and thinned out.

My extended doll collecting family are collectively nerding out over this whole ordeal. Can be checked off my doll rehab bucket list!

I made it back to Florida from up north just before bad weather started cancelling flights!!! Now I’m chilling at home, getting ready for Christmas Eve mass, and setting up my new (old) sewing machine!

My great-grandma’s Singer from the 1950s was brought from my Grandpa’s house as he is downsizing/decluttering after losing my Grandma. It has genuinely not been used in at least 20-30 years and IT STILL WORKS!!!! Just a little dusty. The original parts are all intact, even the lightbulb!

I haven’t made anything with this lovely lady yet, but will soon!

Anyway, no matter what you are or are not celebrating this season, I hope you have a lovely end of the year and a wonderful 2023!

[doofenshmirtz voice] If I had a nickel for every time I went out shopping near my campus this semester and came back with a TLC AG doll, I'd have two nickels! Which isn't a lot, but it's weird that it happened twice.

Kaya has a desk friend now!!!!! Josefina was $6 at a charity resale shop, most likely because her head was detached from her body... apart from that, she just needed some love! I couldn't just leave her there! I have been having great luck doll hunting in recent months. <3

Hello from Kelsey's college dorm desk

It has started to get colder and colder outside, so I made Kaya this snuggly color blocked sweatshirt with some nice felt and a blanket stitch. Midterms have come and gone and soon we will be on break!

I like having a little someone to sew for while on campus, and here in my junior year I am having a lot of fun and making the dorm my home away from home in the little ways that I can. I have a wall of art and pictures, a Barbie Fairytopia Bibble hanging from my lamp, action figures and knickknacks, etc. People who visit me like to poke at Bibble and make him fly, lmao.

On the subject of Bibble, I went to a residential life 'meme gathering' where one of my friends and classmates, RA Brian, organized a craft night where we decorated framed photos of curated memes...

Anyway, this has been a College Update with horanhufflepuff. I don't post much on here very often, but I am always lurking!

Kaya is having a great time at college for my junior year.

I came to school this semester with zero dolls and now have two in my closet 😂 this sweet Kaya was a fixer upper project. Loose limbs and tangled hair; all cleaned up with some love!

Denim skirt and blouse made by hand from recycled clothing items because I don’t have a sewing machine in my dorm (too loud!). It just so happens that her waist measurements are the exact size of the ankle of a pair of jeans I had inadvertently worn out, so I cut the bottom chunk off, made her a little pocket, and frayed the raw edge for a fringe hem. Blouse is scraps from messed up skirt. Took an afternoon to put together her outfit! It was a nice reward for myself after completing a massive load of homework.

summer break from animation college is literally just drawing all the fanart you wanted to create over the school year but didn’t have time to.
