My first weaving on my new loom is done! Well, mostly. I'm thinking of woodburning something on the spoon and maybe switching it to face the other way. Thoughts? I have so much learning to do but this was so fun! ✨✨✨ #delftinspired #woven #handmade #handwoven #kitchendecor #home #homesteadingmama #homesteading #homesteader #handcrafter #rustic #folk #folkart #weaving #loomwoven #wallhanging #theheathenhomesteader #heathenhomesteader
Here is a simple yet lovely silver COLORED (permanently) copper necklace that I hand wove using plain wire. Copper is humanity's first metal and has been known to be magically good for being a good conductor of energy, to be used as an amplifier of thoughts and sending psychic messages/communication, in healing spells and rituals, and more. Many believe copper is good for healing or alleviating the pain of arthritis and rheumatic diseases as well as detoxification, circulation, increase in energy, et cetera. This piece is perfect for BOTH men and women! I wear Viking knit (I am a woman) and I am planning to make one for a male friend of mine. Perfect for a wide variety of people. Healers, SCA members, Followers of the Northern Pantheon (Heathen, Odinist, Asatru) and more. A lovely piece that large beads, etc can easily be added to. Viking knitting is a type of chain making done by hand and really was used by the Medieval Norse! I used 26 gauge copper wire and HAND WOVE every single loop. It takes anywhere from three days (working ALL the time) to a week or so to get 30 yards woven and it generally only creates about a yard or so of workable material after (even less with double weave!). This was a work of heart and determination! When I joined the SCA (sca.org) I received a blessing by meeting my friend Dana (THL Dubh Easa na Inishmore) who taught me how to do the Viking Knitting. She is teaching me many Viking crafts (You can find her on Facebook under "The Feather and Scale"). I owe the creation of this piece to HER. Thank you Dana! The necklace measures approximately 21 inches long as a whole. It is made using copper wire (silver colored) and silver plated materials. On this necklace there is a lovely handmade glass bead I chose specially while on a spiritual escape in Oregon.
