Before and After!

I was given pieces of a broken straw display some time ago with the intention in mind to fix it. The idea was daunting in trying to get everything to hang properly, etc without breaking. So this year I finally took a few pieces to work with as separate things instead of one display. I still have more I can use too. I think I did okay for having my kids quite literally crawling all over me. I’ll probably save the rest of the pieces for next year when I might have some assistance in keeping their attention off of my work. ♥️

I had made this to sell but the marking tool I use to help put my design together left a residue I can’t get off so it lives with me now. I kept wanting to save a piece for myself so I guess this was the way to get me to keep one. 😅♥️🎄

I made this in 2016 and it has broken since then. It was salt dough that I shaped with my then one kid before baking and painting it together. We used it to count down to Yule by placing a red glass half marble in each day until we got to the center. It was part of our bed time ritual. My kids are at an age where they might fight over this task so I’m looking at alternative countdowns. Other than their usual chocolate advent calendars. Thought I would share the idea for anyone interested! It’s a bit early but I might forget before December starts. 😂

The end result from my pictures yesterday! I dehydrated them in the oven. Supposedly, they only take about 2-3 hours to dry at 200F but since I made mind so thick it took about 6 hours. I strung them up with green twine using the natural holes created by the drying process (except the ends I had to use a needle I use for crochet). 🔥 Orange and Clove Pomanders are a Yule tradition to make and give to someone as a gift. I had a lovely orange and a large glass vial of cloves so I wanted to make one for my home as I have in years past. The orange was a bit too large and I worried about it rotting quickly in the wetness of the PNW so I sliced them instead to dry. I stuck cloves into the rind and later added cinnamon. A little run down of the separate magical properties of the ingredients are as follows 🎄: Cloves are used magically to stop gossip, in gambling magic, for friendship, money/prosperity work, room renting, protection, exorcism, love, lust and more. ⚡️ Cinnamon is known to be great for money drawing and new businesses, cleansing, SPICING up love (lust, desire, seduction, sex), success, protection, psychic powers, healing and POWER "in general." 🔥 Orange is really great for Happiness, Joy, Energy and Power magic.
