On Day 2 of soaking. For those who didn’t see my other post: Trying solar dyeing for the first time! These have been out for a few days and take 10-30+ days. Basically whenever the color starts coming out then the wool sucks it up it’s done. 😂 The mordant is alum and cream of tartar and I’m using Corriedale wool. The smallest jar is lemon, rose and sweet pea flowers. Then it’s fireweed, blackberries, eucalyptus and then dandelion with Queen Anne’s Lace. 100% wild harvested. The small jar and the eucalyptus are dried but the rest are fresh materials. Hoping to infuse the fiber both with color and magic. 🖤
Stringing up more American Rowan berries to dry. I had hoped for a long time that I would eventually live somewhere I would have access to these kinds of things and now I do. 🖤
Me: *has wanted to be an herbalist for half of life* Friend: “I have this problem.” Me: “SAY NO MORE.” *herb cupboard door explodes off* The only things I’m upset about is that I ran out of jars and had to use baggies and that I found a secondary herb tub after finishing a few things. 😭 This is a sampling kit to get said friend started.
A PNW Witch
I love how the land here erupts in various flora and when their life ends they are replaced by others. Foxglove covered everything and I was sad to see them start to die. Now yellow yarrow is popping up everywhere along with daisies. Blackberry bushes can be found on almost every street. With me eagerly awaiting their season to come. It's an herbalists and wildcrafters dreamland.
