Hi! I'm brainmuncher, but you can also refer to me as a mudfish or mudskipper. I don't really have a preference on pronouns so anythings fine. This is my main blog but you can also find me at mixedbagofdc. Hope you enjoy your stay!

I was trying out an adventure map I found when my brain started to yell at me to draw Tango. So I drew a Tango of the Tek variety. Didn't foresee my day going like this, but I've enjoyed it nonetheless. I've never drawn Tango before, and I have no idea what I was going for outfit wise, but it's all good. Might refine this later and slap it into my sketchbook.

That feel when your fandom has to start a '#no dissection' tag on ao3

This tag isn't from this post, but it's in my screenshots from forever ago, and I couldn't resist adding it.

What I like about this is that dissection isn't part of the original Danny Phantom, but it is part of fandom's Danny Phantom. Someone who writes a fanfic with him being dissected is making a fanfic of the fandom's Phantom. This means that there is a second version, a version that is made up of the fanfics and is constantly evolving as new fan-content is created.

I find this fascinating/wonderful/beautiful.

What do you think they're referring to when they say "molecule by molecule"?

Can someone please pull up the screencap for me where danny nonchalantly goes "I hope my parents don't dissect me later"

like this is a kid show so it can't go that far but the implications are there

Thaaats the one vvvv

I want to tell a story to the artists and would-be artists out there.

When I was 19, I made a large oil painting of the nerd I would eventually marry. I poured all my attention and care into this painting. It's the only art I have from back then that still holds up as a work I'm proud of today.

I entered it into a judged show at the local art center. It got an honorable mention. I went to see the show with my beloved model. One of the judges came up to talk to me, and highlighted that all the judges really liked the painting. It would have placed, except, you see, the feet were incorrect. They were too wide and short, and if I just studied a bit more anatomy-

I called over my future wife, and asked her to take off her shoe. Being already very used to humoring me, she did. The judge looked at her very short, very wide little foot. Exactly as I'd lovingly rendered it. I would never edit her appearance in any way.

The judge looked me in the eye, and to his credit, he really looked like he meant it when he said "Oh I'm so sorry."

Anyways the moral of the story is that all of those anatomy books that teach you proportions are either showing you averages, or a very specific idea of an idealized body. Actual bodies are much more varied than that.

So don't forget to draw from observation, and remember that humans aren't mass produced mannequins. Delight in our variation. Because it's supposed to be there.

A friendly fox in Pripyat, Chernobyl exclusion zone

*happy cheerful music as fox plays in deserted nuclear radiation land*

This is the aesthetic

Fun facts about the Chernobyl Exclusion Zone:

1) Most of it is pretty safe, even for long periods of time. In fact about 200 native people still live there, but no new settlement is allowed, so that number has declined from about 1200 after the zone was created in 1986.

2)The zone has become an unintentional animal reserve. Its ~1000 square miles of uninhabited forest. Poaching happens, but not to the degree one might expect due to the fear of radiation. Also as a consequence there are lots of human friendly animals like this fox. Most of the humans they do see are tourists that regularly feed them.

3) Its one big science experiment on post human occupation, environmental contamination, and radioactive degradation. Weve actually learned a hell of a lot about what would happen to a city after everyone leaves and how nature takes back over thanks to the city of Pripyat. And how the environment adapts to sudden changes and evolves. A fungus was desvovered in and around the Chernobyl Disaster Site that creates chemical energy out gamma radiation emitted from the melted down core. Something biologists had only theorized as even possible a few years ago, and heres this fungus feeding on it. Its crazy man!

^^ i was literally thinking about if nature and wild life had taken back over the area

Adorable fox + interesting science, 10/10

Cradle-to-Cradle: Reflection So excited to post my very first piece for Invisobang 2024! Big shout out to my author WillaKK for writing a story that mixes two of my favorite things together (Danny Phantom and vampires!) and fellow artist EyesofCrows who inspired and challenged me to do a pixel art piece for this event. I had so much fun working on this with them and hope you all check the story out!

You can read the first chapter on Willa's page here

And you can read the full story here on AO3, which will feature both Eyes' and my pixel illustrations for some of the chapters!
