“Hi,” Harry breathes, all doll-like, like Louis didn’t spend the morning with him, Harry’s bag slung over his shoulder as he walked him to his classes.
“Hi, sweetheart,” Louis whispers back, and he could burst with it, all the love he has for this boy. He’s never met someone who makes him feel this tingly on the inside – like if he opens his mouth a little too long it’ll all spill out, rainbow coloured glitter and how much he loves Harry.
He leans a little backwards on the bed, helps Harry situate himself on top of his thighs. Harry digs teal painted nails onto the top of his shirt as he makes himself comfortable, his fingers toying with the white straps of Louis’ overalls.
His giggles are breathless and pressed to Louis’ cheek, and they erupt a surprised laugh from Louis, who noses at the chocolate curls on the back of his head before kissing softly below his ear.
He cups Harry’s cheeks, and they’re warm under the tips of his fingers, and bumps his nose against Harry’s. The seafoam green of Harry’s eyes is blurry with their closeness. “What’s it?”
“I’m just – just really happy,” Harry says shyly, thumbing at the warm skin of Louis’ neck, and there are stars in his eyes.

Louis watches him, watches the way moonlight spills white ink into the rich brown of his hair and outlines the faint dip of his waist to make it more prominent.
He watches Harry watch him back, his tousled, unwashed hair and tired blue eyes and dirty sweatpants, the way Zayn’s hoodie swallows his fingers, the new lip ring he tugs between his teeth.
“Go home, Harry,” he says quietly before pressing the door shut, not fast enough to miss the confusion that washes over Harry’s face like angry ocean waves in the midst of a storm.
