She deserved better?
Root started off as an antagonist and became what was basically the centrepiece for the show’s 100th episode. Her wish to free The Machine came true, not by force, but by gaining the love and trust from the man she truly admired. Her flirty banter with the hot ISA agent developed into a fully fleshed out relationship where the hired assassin actually became someone’s safe place. Meanwhile, her prediction that she will one day “transcend this reality” came true when she became the voice of God herself.
You think Root deserved better? I dare you to find any other character that has been treated with as much respect as she has.
#she could have had better#she probably deserved better#but she still had a lot#and I urge you to consider at least that#so no#poi writers aren't shit as other writers are#please consider that#or what#it was all for nothing#the fact that she died alone erases her character#the fact that maybe she was a plot device erases her development#I don't think so#maybe she deserved better#and honestly the best ending I could have imagined was root taking Harold's place#she's could have been his heir#she would have done a great job#but if you forget for one fucking second which skin is how and which sexual orientation is whose#which you're entitled to never do btw#it makes so much sense anyway#it's the prophet dying for his cause trope#which is negative IMO#but still meaningful and true to her character#it would have been even better if they had subverted the trope by letting her take Harold's place#maybe yes she deserved better#but don't tell me they ruined her character#don't tell me it was all for nothing#because IMO it's an exaggeration#and tbh it's also deminishing her character in general#*sighs*#why did she have to die
