I know I posted the version of this with the colored backgrounds awhile back, but I’m not sure if I posted the version without the background. (Aka sketches of these three from after the Part One cliffhanger of the story.)
I know I posted the version of this with the characters’ bios before, but I don’t think I ever posted the one of just these guys (looking like awkward yearbook-style photos, X’DD).
I know I posted the colored version of this sketch on here, but I’m not sure I ever posted the lineart. I was going through my art folder earlier and thought it was cute, so I am posting it.
I was going through my art folder again, and I know sketched this awhile back, but I am posting it again (I think I posted it before?) so it is easier for me to find. (Since I don’t have many references of these three’s heights.)
A reference sheet for the ‘canon’ couples of ‘2072′. (Unfortunately missing Timothy x Sophronia, Gabriel x Paulette, and Bernard x Cecile; I lost motivation before I could add them, D: )
I know I technically posted this awhile back, but I fixed some things on it that I wasn’t necessarily happy with (mainly how Triinu’s hair looked, though I like how it looks now).
I finally finished the Part Two sketches of Mihails and Niele to go along with the Triinu one I posted last week.
(I am still slowly getting back into drawing again.)
Just added Maren Andersen’s commentary back to that chibi head post.
Finally getting back to working on coloring this. (It’s been sitting incomplete in my art folder since...I think November or December of last year). I know I’ve had Triinu, Mihails, and Niele colored for awhile, and now Timothy and Paulette joined them.
...I think this is the first time (ever) that I’ve actually colored artwork of Timothy. (Which is nuts to think about, because I’ve been drawing him since January of 2010.)
The last time I posted artwork of Paulette that was colored was back in like...2014. Wow 0__0 (For people new to these characters, was Paulette having orange hair a shock? XD I remember when I first posted her fully-colored design, people were surprised because they expected she’d be blonde, or brunette.)
Timothy is described as ‘a tall boy with caramel-colored hair and sparkling blue eyes’ when he’s introduced. I think I might have accidentally colored his hair a little too dark, but I do like how it looks on him!
It is funny how Timothy is the only smiling one of the bunch. (He’s also the only one with a tan; the others are super pale in complexion.)
Fun fact: In terms of heights, the order from tallest to shortest is: Timothy (5′9), Triinu (5′7.5), Paulette (5′6), Mihails (5′5), Niele (5′3).
I finally finished coloring those ‘Unlucky Trio in Part Two’
(AAAND once again, in my quest to make Triinu not look like a female Eduard she...ends up looking more like fem!Ed. Go figure, X’D)
2072 the story: explores themes of the fakeness of reality TV, blackmail, brainwashing, secret government projects, human rights violations, abuse, false utopias, etc.
2072 the artworks: Usually funny, joke comics, people from various countries interacting with each other in a weird competition.
I feel like the actual content of the story differs from my art of it, so I wanted to fix that with these more ‘sad’ sketches.
Taken from the lineart version of this sketch:
‘After winning the competition, Triinu’s memories are wiped and replaced with new ones, so that she stays complacent, and doesn’t go digging into what happened to her fellow former contestants.
However, eventually, Triinu breaks the mental block and is able to regain her memories. After this, she becomes bitter and very focused on trying to figure out what happened to her friends (to the point where she becomes quite ruthless in this endeavor). The first thing she does after regaining her memories is cut her hair.
Mihails and Niele, like the other eliminated contestants, are drugged/sedated and experimented on until the end of the competition. Once Triinu is declared the winner, everyone is divided up and shipped off to different labs with different intentions. However, Mihails and Niele, along with Risto, Björk, Mogens, Bernard, and Huan-Yue are kept by the Panel (the people in charge of the competition) and their personal lab.
A few members on the Panel liked Mihails with longer/shaggier hair, so it is kept that way, rather than cut short.
Niele’s long hair was cut as a dehumanization tactic.’
While most would consider Triinu the ‘luckiest’ one of her group, I actually disagree. Though Mihails and Niele were basically put through hell, their personalities remained intact (with an extra heaping of trauma added on top of it, but I digress, XD). Triinu, on the other hand? Her memories were toyed with and altered. Once she gets them back, she becomes extremely jaded and ruthless in her quest to find Mihails and Niele. Afterwards, she has to deal with the fact that she destroyed things and hurt people in order to save her friends. She doesn’t regret it, but she is no longer the girl she was pre-Competition, and it really saddens her. :(
Decided to edit that edit (lol, edit-ception) I did before, giving the characters their eye colors. (I think the most dramatic ones are Mihails’ and Lorand’s.)
Fixed that other sketch I had of Nadia and Triinu by making them face each other.
While not the most obvious example, they can be considered foils of each other. (Aside from the clear protagonist [Triinu]-antagonist [Nadia] aspect, I mean) Though both are aloof and hard to read, Nadia prefers to solve her problems by fighting them, while Triinu prefers less violent methods. Nadia manipulates situations (and people) to her advantage, while Triinu is genuine.
However, both do have a lot in common, especially as the story goes on. (Aka the big reveal that Nadia was raised and trained as an assassin, and even went through some brainwashing and mind-wiping in order for her to meet the standards of her ‘guardians’. Meanwhile, in Part Two, Triinu’s memory is wiped and altered so that she doesn’t look for the other contestants)
Though I draw a lot of memes and joke comics for this story, it does get intense at times. Especially in sections involving Nadia because, unlike the other contestants, Nadia is a trained killer. (Which this excerpt under the cut will show...)

I finally drew what Triinu, Mihails, and Niele look like during Part Two of ‘2072′.
After winning the competition, Triinu’s memories are wiped and replaced with new ones, so that she stays complacent, and doesn’t go digging into what happened to her fellow former contestants.
However, eventually, Triinu breaks the mental block and is able to regain her memories. After this, she becomes bitter and very focused on trying to figure out what happened to her friends (to the point where she becomes quite ruthless in this endeavor). The first thing she does after regaining her memories is cutting her hair.
Niele’s long hair was cut as a dehumanization tactic. :(
This (cursed) idea wouldn’t leave my head until I drew it, X’DD
Finally got this out of my system, X’D
I guess this can be a continuation of this.
Triinu is one second away from trying to punch Felicjan in the back of the head 0_0
Niele and Mihails (probably @ me XD):
Finished that edit I was working on before. (Now with Nadia, Felicjan, and Lorand!)
I thought this was a cool edit (just me messing around with a previous sketch of Triinu and her teammates), so I figured I’d post it.
It’s that time of year again! (AKA Pride Month, haha)
So I decided to make a handy guide of the 2072 characters’ orientations. This is Part One!
...I just realized this is basically the Bisexual/Demisexual squad, haha. (The other characters’ orientations will be more varied, I swear, XDD. Like there are aces, gays, lesbians, and straights. There are just a ton of characters in this story, so I just started out with the main protagonists.)
Some explanations: *Only sexual and romantic orientation for the demi- (and ace, in the later compilations) characters will be split. The others, such as the bisexuals, in this one, for example, will only have their sexuality listed, since their romantic orientation is the same. (If a bi character prefers a certain gender, I will also list that.)
Nordic Group:
Freya Svensson: Demisexual Biromantic
Vivica Sivertsen: Bisexual (leans more towards women)
Thorsen Pettersen: Demisexual Biromantic (leans more towards women)
Björk Sigurbjörnsdóttir: Bisexual
Risto Suomalainen: Bisexual
-
Baltic Group:
Triinu Sepp: Bisexual
Mihails Jaunums: Demisexual Biromantic (leans more towards women)
Niele Paulauskaitė: Bisexual
-
North America Group:
Paulette Jacobs: Demisexual Biromantic (leans more towards men)
Timothy Jones: Bisexual (leans more towards women)
This was so much fun! (The next set in this series will be more individuals rather than groups. Like Nadia, Felicjan, Lorand, and Noël.)
It always feels weird drawing Mihails looking closer to Triinu’s height than Niele’s, XDD. Like he just gives off ‘really short’ vibes when he’s not. (Granted, he IS only 166cm (5′5″, I think?), so not ‘tall’ per se, but still. A lot taller than me XD)
Technically, he’s only two inches taller than Niele (who is 5′3″), and two and a half inches shorter than Triinu (who is 5′7.5″), so he’s the middle point between Triinu’s and Niele’s heights.
Also...it was really weird drawing him with such a happy expression. Normally, he’s quite sad-looking, XDD
