Spot the difference
just wondering.. why are broadway fans so afraid to admit that broadway is racist
Gonna have to disagree with this.
Dear Evan Hansen has black actors / actresses. Hamilton has black actors/actresses.
And soo many more Broadway musicals. They seem to not be racist to me
just because the two shows you know have black people in them doesn’t mean broadway isn’t racist. broadway was literally built on systems of oppression. look at what shows make it to broadway. look at who (creative team & actors) make it to broadway. look at the producers shows. look at the stories being told on broadway & how shows that are made up of predominantly actors of color typically use trauma porn in their plots, or stereotypes - or both. look at the ticket prices. who gets to see shows? who is broadway accessible to?
broadway continues to fund republican campaigns, including trump’s. on your blog, you claim to not be racist, that you were only stating your opinion, that you do listen. so do. listen when people are telling you that broadway is racist. google is free. i’ve even googled it for you, and linked some of the first few articles that pop up. i hope you take the time to read these:
- What I Think About When I Hear That Broadway is Racist
- Black Theater Workers Call Out Racism on Broadway

and don’t think that this is just an american/broadway issue. the same thing goes for west end & theatre companies around the world.
