Hope you all had a blessed and healthy Imbolc.
To me Imbolc is even more important this year because I recently got the news that my thesis got approved which means I have graduated from university! My thesis researched pagan elements in upcoming celtic christianity in early medieval times, including research on the goddess Brigid and Saint Brigid. With the blessings of the goddess, who formed the inspiration behind my thesis, I got to graduate and receive my bachelor degree, so I am very grateful. Imbolc also is a day and celebration to begin planning your way forward in life, the power of new beginnings and determination to grow and heal, so graduating right before Imbolc really strenghtens my personal growth in life and the hopefulness of my dreams coming to fruition blessed by the gods.
I spent the day by having a high-tea lunch with my mother and grandparents at a monastery that was turned into a hotel and restaurant. But they kept the chappel so I walked and looked around there. For me that is also a way of honoring religion in general, which is part of my practice, even though I'm pagan and not christian. The whole week the weather had been gloomy and rainy but today the sun shone the whole day which was beautiful, also since Imbolc is the day to honor the coming of the sun and light and thus the coming of spring and new beginnings and for the sunlight to feed the fruition of your dreams and desires. In the evening I listened to Imbolc music and prayed to Brigid.
“Blessed Bridget comest thou in Bless this house and all of our kin Bless this house, and all of our kin Protect this house and all within Blessed Bridget come into thy bed With a gem at thy heart and a crown on thy head Awaken the fire within our souls Awaken the fire that makes us whole Blessed Bridget, queen of the fire Help us to manifest our desire May we bring forth all that as good and fine May we give birth to our dreams in time Blessed Bridget comest thou in Bless this house and all of our kin From the source of Infinite Light Kindle the flame of our spirits tonight”
— Imbolc, Lisa Thiel
(pronounced ee-molc, also called Candlemas)
Imbolc is celebrated roughly when winter begins to turn to spring. Traditionally it also marked the successful survival of the harsh winter months and the beginning of the agricultural season. The returning sun is welcomed and the Celtic goddess Brigid is honored.

Blessed Litha to everyone who celebrates the summer solstice!
I spend the weekend prior to the solstice at my best friends house, we went to play midget golf near the beach and had a good laugh at the restaurant. We also had a BBQ with her family in the garden and roasted some marshmellows.
Unfortunaly during the solstice day itself it was very grey, cloudy and rainy so there wasn't much opportunity to eat outside, but I spend a little while in the garden while my mom was planting pumpkins (because Mabon and Samhain are ahead of us, you gotta prepare). Due to the weather we couldn't see the sun and due to pandemic restrictions events at Stonehenge were cancelled and there was no possibility to travel to the UK. Luckily English Heritage did a live stream of the sunset and sunrise in which they also talked some historical facts. After that I baked a sunflower themed, orange flavoured cake for me and my mom to celebrate and honour Litha.
Hope you all had joyful celebrations! Blessed be☀️
Hello my greenies! Happy Litha! I hope you’re all enjoying the summer sun and nature. Even during quarantine, if you’re able to take a walk in nature without contact with others, I highly recommend doing so. If you’re unable to go outside, I recommend taking the time to bake and maybe listen to some nature sounds on youtube. Those have helped me during these times. I wish you all the best with this yummy cake! I hope you all like this recipe:)

There’s no particular chant I do for this recipe, I mostly just pray for the sun and for the health of those I care for. I like to visualize the sun and its heat and color wrapping me in an embrace and that same warmth infusing the cake.
I hope you call have a lovely Litha and special time with those you love a care for.

Hello my greenies! I have here a recipe to celebrate Litha! I am recovering from the removal of all four of my wisdom teeth and am unable to feast accordingly. I hope everyone can celebrate and eat for me, so I have here a favorite chicken recipe that I have especially during Litha and many times during the summer.
I will put the corresponding meanings of all the ingredients for the recipe at the end of the post and hope everyone enjoys my recipe. I hope to be posting more soon!
***You can use these ingredients for a whole chicken, but the amount for the coating will need to be adjusted and so will the cooking time. There are many websites that can tell you how to prepare a whole chicken, if that is also what you are looking for.

“With the heat of the day and kiss of the night, summer bring love and spirit to me. Let me feel the child-like dance. Let me embrace myself. I am my own fire.”
*I always find that this meal goes well with some honey garlic potatoes, thyme roasted carrots, Zucchini casserole, and fresh baked flaky biscuits.
If you decide to make this recipe please send me pictures! Although I can’t eat any solids at the moment, I would feel satisfied just by seeing everyone else enjoying their meals. I hope you enjoy this recipe and have a special Litha!

So it’s a little bit late but here is how I celebrated Thargelia this year, 2019. So this was the fourth year that I celebrated Thargelia, and every year I feel like I am making progress in it, if that makes sense, and every year has been completely different. This year I felt a bit ‘bad’ about how I acted this Thargelia, even though it was still fine and so on the other hand I did feel good about it, so it was a bit double for me in a way.
Oke so now to the actual things I did this Thargelia:
On Artemis’ day:
I fasted for about 18 or 19 hours. Around lunch time I felt a little hungry but throughout the day my body got used to the fast and the ‘hunger’ stopped. But in the evening around 9 I did break my fast even though I wasn’t really that hungry, I just felt like oke this was good and now I need to eat something. Which I found pitiful of myself, and I did think about it twice before I decided to actually eat because I wanted to fast for longer but on the other hand I felt good and proud of the fact that I had fasted for the biggest part of the day.
(Actually when I did that, it was already after midnight but oke. That’s still semi the end of the day so.)
On Apollon’s day:
I didn’t veil, although I wanted to, and didn’t recite all the hymns that I wanted to recite, this Thargelia, nor did I do everything on the time that I wanted to. Over all I had some double feelings and didn’t always feel fully ‘cleansed’ but I did have good feelings, especially during the time I spend at the altar. So that’s how I spend my (fourth year of) Thargelia.
Hope you all had a good Thargelia and felt well! And may you be blessed by the gods!
Happy Thargelia everybody!
I will do an update on Sunday about how I spend Thargelia this year, hope you all have a blessed and good Thargelia.
This is a festival many devotees of Nyx have made together. We felt She needed a special day to celebrate Her, just as many other deities do. This ritual is to be performed on the night of the last Full-moon before Yule.
Steps of the ritual:
Cast a circle, use a white candle for spirit and use the purple one in the center to focus on Nyx.
Ask her to be present in the ritual.
Say/ Sing this Hymn: It is of you I see the Night through. It is of you that I go to sleep every night, safe and sound. It is of you that I began to cherish the night, and the sleep that came with it. It was of you, oh Goddess of the Night, that I was able to rest easy when the darkness swallowed me at the end of the day. It is of you that gave me the sight to see in the darkest of times, when things seemed dim. It is of you that granted me the power to blast through the pain and misery. It is of you, my mother Nyx, that I was able to follow the path to success. I thank you, oh sweet Mother, for all that you grant me. I thank you for all you give, and for all you say. Nyx, Goddess of Night, Mother to all her children of the darkness, I thank you for all that you do.
Give her an offering of your choice (remember she is a cthonic deity).
Take some time to think of all you want to accomplish with Her in the New Year, all your hopes and dreams.
Then reflect on what she’s done for you, what she’s given you, and how she’s helped you throughout your life.
End the reflection with this thank-full prayer: I thank you Nyx, for your wisdom and guidance. For keeping me sane when others drive me to insanity. I ask of you this night, to keep me safe while I sleep, And to help me ward off any nightmares that insist on coming. I also ask of you, sweet mother of the night, to keep those who wish to talk negatively to me from doing so. I thank you Nyx, the Goddess of Night, For granting me the strength and power to get through my bad days. For helping me along when I wanted to give up. You are an outstanding goddess and mother to your children. I thank you.
Close your circle.
A Huge thanks to everyone who contributed to this! @justyour-averagewitch @cordelia-nightsong @awh-nyx @lelxndi @thegirlwhoknewall And thank you to all I didn’t write down!
