[James] Being with Alyssa had started to make me feel things. She made me feel things. And I didn’t like it at all.
Season: 1, Episode: 3.
the thing abt s1 of teotfw is that.. they feel like actual, real teenagers. They get into these wild situations but its grounded by the fact that the show never presents them as fully-grown adults. They’re not ‘tv teenagers’ - they just.. are teenagers. They’re emotional and impulsive and fucked up and scared and they want to have fun and feel like they belong but they cant figure out how to have that, and they want to be confident and competent and in control of their lives but they’re also terrified and want to be taken care of and it was just so refreshing to see that. it was so refreshing to see teen characters who aren’t… idk, solving a major crime or opening a speakeasy or killing monsters. they’re just trying to escape the lives they feel suffocated by, and to the audience its obvious from the start that this isn’t going to work out the way they want it to but you get pulled along on their story with them because you understand WHY they are doing what they do because they’re just…… being teenagers. at the end of the day they’re just being teenagers.
