i said this on the tags of a post but i wanted to talk about hyacinths for a second
the flower gets its name from a greek myth where the god apollo fell in love with a prince, hyacinth
the myth goes that apollo and hyacinth had plenty of adventures and apollo showed hyacinth how to hunt and climb and basically tried to give him an exciting life
one day apollo and hyacinth were playing a round of discus, and apollo was so swept up in the game he forgot about his god like strength
and hyacinth was struck in the head and killed. apollo held his love in his arms as hyacinth bled
and apollo made flowers bloom from hyacinths blood, as a gesture that he would never forget his love. the flowers that bloomed were revered as one of the most beautiful
a symbol of apollo and hyacinths love, immortalized in nature
