Given how much of feline play and social behaviour are imitative in character, I feel like it shouldn't come as a surprise to gamers that their cats want to roll the shiny math rocks, too. Like, you demonstrated that this is a form of play and let them watch you do it. They're participating!

The transition from innate human kindness wanting to pass something forward and monkey brain want make chaos is really sharp and sudden.

Also from "Oh I want those dice so bad, but...!" to "Oh that is too many dice." (After a more gradual ramp up from "Not enough dice to tempt me".)

I read this bdsm story where the sub was told to roll some dice and the they'd have a reward of punishment based on the number rolled, right? Not that weird of a premise for this sort of thing.

EXCEPT they used two d6s! And I am too much of a tabletop gamer to let that shit slide.

That's not how you do it! You roll a d12 or something so that each possibility has a roughly equal likelyhood.

But 2d6 and 1d12 have completely different probability curves! Look, here's a meme:

See? The punishment/reward most likely is gonna be the one at 7.

Although, I mean... I guess you could argue that this let's you weight the results? Like make 2 and 12 the biggest punishment/reward, so they only rarely roll, whereas smaller punishments/rewards around 7 are more likely.

But I don't know. It seems you'd want to explain that if you did.

Ugh. Another bdsm scenario ruined by unrealistic statistics.

I have a weird dice but it's not rpg-related, (unless you count gesstimating the time youll need to implement a feature in a computer project as roleplaying)...

Behold the Fibonacci dice, from 1 to 13 and with the must-have infinity and coffee break sides!

I like threatening my projects manager to use it on badly defined features :) thanks to my colleague who 3d-printed it a few years ago!

since they all canonically carry around d20s for rollies….

orym - got his die ages ago from the air ashari and just keeps is cuz he likes it

fearne - has an entire bag of dice cuz she steals them but her favorite is the one made of sapphire with platinum plating on it cuz its shiny and expensive

dorian - he left any expensive dice he had when he left home but bought this one cuz he thought it looked nice

imogen + laudna - they bought theirs as a pair later on after they started traveling together so they could play games on the road

ashton - metal d20 with “fuck” on the one. self explanatory (probably had one of their buddies at the crook house cast it for him)

fcg - doesnt actually own any of dice of their own but uses a simple black one ashton gave them

chetney - hand carved wooden d20 that is super unbalanced unintentionally

bonus: bertrand - a really fancy and heavy golden d20 that is intentionally unbalanced to roll more 20s
