Final Fantasy VII fanfiction: Stray Cat, Looking for a Good Home

Cid Highwind has never questioned his preferences. He's also pretty darn sure that he hates labels or being told what to do. So what if he wants to snuggle with Vincent Valentine, he's just trying to make sure they both get a good night's sleep. It has nothing to do with the fact that the man is drop dead gorgeous and maybe a little cute too, in borrowed pajamas.

Foul mouthed engineer who can't stop wanting to fix things + stoic and emotionally damaged ex-Turk in need of a hug.

As threatened, a cleaned up ink version of my drawing celebrating 200 kudos for "The Living Years."

The last chapter will be posted at end of this month, with 1 or 2 Valenwind oneshots to follow.

So a little context.

I promised a drawing for 200 (now nearing 250!) kudos on AO3 for my current Castlevania fic "The Living Years" and was considering what I should write next. The long haul plan is… another Castlevania fic lol But I had another slowly simmering idea for an OG Final Fantasy VII oneshot featuring Cid + Vincent (Valenwind) since that's one of my old favorite pairings, and I've never bothered writing it.

I guess I have a thing for pale, slender, angsty, not-quite-human gothic men rising out of coffins to fall into the arms of a foul-mouthed, scruffy guy with obvious addiction issues.

Maybe I'll clean this up and repost to finish off "The Living Years"?

Some of my favorite Final Fantasy boys, Dissidia version, in acrylic stand form.

It's so hard to find Dissidia merch : / I desperately wish there was a Kuja in the mix too (admittedly that's part of my attachment to Warrior of Light... he's sorta my Kuja replacement.)

Seventh breakdown - lower cabinet, the one shelf that's somewhat organized? (Good example of what my unorganized shelves look like!)

From left to right, roughly: Dark Schneider and Gara (Bastard!!), Kain Highwind (Final Fantasy IV), Kuja, Beatrix and Zidane Tribal (FF IX), Griffith (Berserk), Rufus Shinra (FF VII), Cecil Harvey (FF IV), Warrior of Light (FF I), Squall Leonhart (FF VIII).

Not sure if I'll be able to install backdrops on these deep shelves...

Figure collecting: 2023 display breakdown - Cloud Strife and Sephiroth

Fourth breakdown - left upright cabinet, fourth shelf.

From left to right, roughly: Sephiroth and Cloud (including original Final Fantasy VII, Kingdom Hearts, Advent Children, Dissidia and Remake versions), Reno and Rude (Before Crisis version).  A closer view of the “waltzing” pair here.

This is where I confess I’m not a fan of Cloud (though I love his Kingdom Hearts design, plus the “sword porcupine” AC version).  I just have a slight obsession with Sephiroth, and you can’t have Sephiroth without Cloud : D

The backdrop was chosen to represent Midgar.  The floor is a bit too light but if it was dark gray I’d lose the figures completely.  This shelf is the biggest nightmare to organize though, because I literally have to weave figures between all the swords!

Figure collecting: 2023 display breakdown - vampires and other things that go bump in the night

Happy to see interest in my figure displays!  So as promised here’s my first breakdown, starting with the left upright cabinet, top shelf.

From left to right, roughly: Raziel and Kain (Legacy of Kain / Soul Reaver), Trevor Belmont, Alucard and Maria Renard (Castlevania), Vincent Valentine (Final Fantasy VII), Sebastian Michaelis (Kuroshitsuji), D (Vampire Hunter D), Yui (Vampire Princess Yui).

I still need to install a “floor” on this shelf (likely something like gray cobblestone would be appropriate), but waiting to see if I can get a more suitable stone or castle themed backdrop before doing so.

Figure collecting: Ballroom blitz

And the man in the back said, "Everyone attack" And it turned into a ballroom blitz And the girl in the corner said, "Boy I want to warn you" It'll turn into a ballroom blitz Ballroom blitz, ballroom blitz, ballroom blitz, ballroom blitz - “Ballroom Blitz,” Sweet

This is what happens when I see a statement and take it too literally.  Or maybe I like having an excuse to play with toys : p  Someone said that it was understandable that Final Fantasy VII’s Sephiroth and Cloud get shipped because, “Where Cloud goes, Sephiroth follows.”

So Cloud’s got lead, despite the height difference ^_^

Nothing like the realization that I've been a little too idle for a little too long as far as figure collecting.  So the last few weeks, I've been playing catch up with some of the more accessible/affordable items on my wishlist, and a couple of harder-to-obtain items I was able to luck into.
