as someone who has been nick in terms of being in a partnership in which my partner needed a lot of support for an eerily similar situation to charlie’s (and at the exact same age as they are in the show), i just loved the way heartstopper showed us both perspectives of mental health struggles without placing blame or resentment onto either side. idk if it’s weird but seeing nicks perspective of charlie’s struggles kind of helped me process what i went through when i was acting as a similar support figure? and it’s not in a “poor me” way, just in a “yeah that happened and it’s nice to see it portrayed in a tv show that i love because it feels like it did really happen now” kind of way.

anyone know of any good fanfics which centre around the argument that nick and charlie have in s3/ solitaire?

- so we know charlie loves literature. i think this trait lends itself to him l o v i n g The Tortured Poets Department album. it’s got sad bops, angry bops, and lots of words that probably only he and tao know the meaning of lol

- on the subject of music, darcy has GOT to be an Ethel Cain fan right? I just feel as though they could be a religious trauma person.. also her and tara would so go to Ethel Cain gigs and vibe

- charlie loves to buy flowers for nick. nick seems like a sunflower guy to me and i think charlie would adore seeing nicks face when he comes home to a fresh bouquet of sunflowers on the table (accompanied with a sappy note ofc)

- tao prefers artificial light to natural light. natural light creates glares on the screen of whatever indie film he’s into at the moment, and we know he doesn’t like to wake up to the sunlight. i think tao would have his curtains shut most of the time. until his mum comes in and lovingly says sunlight is good for him

- nick loves to cook!! so we know he is a wonderful baker, but i can just see him in the kitchen with his apron on creating a delicious meal for him and charlie. he knows charlie is more likely to eat dinner if nick has put effort into it, so he does so as often as he can :’)

- the gang love to get together for halloween parties! usually hosted by nick and charlie or elle and tao. ofc all of the couple/group costumes are incredible. the only know who is reluctant to dress up is tao, but when isaac tells him that tara and darcy are going as mario and luigi, he doesn’t feel like he will look so silly

- i feel like charlie is a morning person but is also someone who stays up late, and nick is not a morning person but also struggles to stay up late!! he’s just a big fan of sleep!!

i’ve just added another chapter to my Heartstopper fic on ao3! it’s a really short lil fluff piece about Nick getting in a minor car accident (only tiny teeny weeny injury warning)

- charlie lives a bit of clutter. so it’s canon that charlie loves collecting things, but i feel like he would be a maximalist in terms of loving things to be on display. photos all over the walls, fav jumpers on a rack so they’re all visible, jewellery or hair or skin products out on the table type of person. not messy, just a ‘like it where i can see it’ person

- tara gives me insomniac vibes. idk if it’s the folklore poster or what but i feel like she is a night owl by nature, but also her lack of sleep goes further into maybe overthinking, or just general daydreaming

- i have this idea that the first time nick experiences a panic attack, he literally has no idea what it is. idk how or when or where it would happen, but if charlie was there, nick would be like “omg what is going on i can’t breathe i’m gonna be sick wtf” and charlie would 100% step up and be like “look you’re defo having a panic attack just breathe with me you’re gonna be ok!!” (can someone talented write a fic pls)

- as upsetting as it is, i think darcy doesn’t cut her mum out of her life even though she is a bully to her. i feel like she would come out to her eventually, and her mum would be awful about it, but darcy would still keep in touch even if it’s minimal (christmas and birthday cards and such) even though she doesn’t really want to

- tori is 100% a dan and phil fan. probs charlie and ollie too actually. they all get pizza and curly fries together and watch dan and phil videos in the living room when their parents are away

- tao always knew he wanted to work in film and i think that he would start a film blog when he goes to uni/college that actually gets popular and ends up getting noticed by people who will help him get properly into the film industry

- we know that nick struggles with what he wants to do for work after school, but i think that this time in his life (uni and shortly after) would be the lowest he has ever been. as someone who can defo relate, i feel like his early-mid twenties are when he experiences the most self doubt

- charlie is 100% someone who studies better in a library or coffee shop. nicks like, yay let’s study at home in bed or on the floor or at the dining table but charlie gets way too easily distracted that way

- elle starts a small business during summer holidays in uni where she paints people at weddings or other events and gives the paintings to the guests

- imogen gets into cheerleading when she goes to uni! we don’t really have cheerleading in high schools in the uk, but a lot of unis do it so i reckon that’s where she would make a lot of her uni friends

- darcy doesn’t drive and has little interest in learning. she doesn’t mind the bus and train and if she needs it, she knows tara or nick would give her a lift

- tara has a jellycat collection. it started with her getting the og bunnies for birthdays and christmas, but then darcy finds out they do all sorts like baked good jellycats and fried eggs and stuff, the chaotic gifts never stop coming

- before cutting her hair short (as depicted in alice osemans drawing of darcy and tara at nick and charlie’s wedding) darcy gets an undercut!! she would look so cool with one i’m sorry

- nick is so good at singing, refuses to sing infront of anyone sober (unless is a car singalong ofc), but as soon as the group gives him a pint at the karaoke bar he will serenade them with some joy division, taylor swift, or even a bit of one direction

- on that note, nick and darcy love a duet at karaoke, as do tara and darcy, and elle and tao (only once tao is absolutely smashed)

- again on that note, tao and elle sing islands in the stream as their karaoke song. yes, they have a dance routine

random heartstopper headcanons

part 1

- nick likes taylor swift: i think this is pretty much canon at this point but he’s totally a Lover and Midnights fan, he organised the group along with Tara in getting Eras tour tickets and fully plans on dressing up a little bit

- tao goes to small independent gigs almost every week to discover new bands and music, especially as the group gets older and can get into pubs and clubs. he definitely drags elle along with him every time

- tara invites the group to come see her dance recitals as they get closer. she is always super nervous before she goes on stage but as soon as she catches a glimps of everyone cheering her on, the nerves melt away

- on that note: tara, isaac and tao are totally theatre kids. i think charlie would have been too, but after everything he went through, it was so anxiety inducting to take part in school shows

- charlie is a terrible at bay parking: he is always squint or closer to one side than the other and every single time he parks terribly he just says “this bay is homophobic” or “oh dear, it’s as straight as i am”. nick rolls his eyes lovingly every time

- elle and tara convince tao, charlie and nick to let them paint their nails. tao actually continues having elle paint his nails afterwords, usually black or dark purple

- when the group all go to pride together for the first time, nick is actually pretty nervous about it. the rest of the group is getting ready, putting glitter and face paint on while nick fusses over bringing water and sunscreen. charlie and tara notice his nerves and after they talk to him, he lets elle draw little blue, purple and pink glitter hearts on his face
