Writing is such an individual experience. For me, outlining is useless; I might have a vague plot idea, some story beats in mind, but I don't know the details until I start writing. Once I've struggle through the first few awkward sentences, then the ideas flow in like a rising tide.
I can't explain it. It's just how I am.
#writing#the other day I was completely head-empty#and I thought 'well I like unicorns so I'll write about a unicorn standing under a tree and see what happens'#and within two paragraphs I had generated a bunch of Unicorn Lore#and a mystery to be solved involving a dead dragon#and a lone wolf character for the unicorn to interact with#and also a bunch of headcanons about how unicorns feel about wolves and vice versa#where did these ideas come from? I don't know.#they weren't there before#but the act of writing brought them into being
