What Is A Place Like Me Doing In A Girl Like This

@bluephoenixdruidicprincess / bluephoenixdruidicprincess.tumblr.com

Welcome to my Geek-Out Corner. Here's where I geek-out about all the things that interest me. I like stories and I like sharing my opinions about stories. Sometimes they're positive, sometimes they're not so positive. I am a rampant multishipper and I make no apologies. Also, I love having healthy discussions. If you like discussing stories and just in general geeking out about fandom stuff, this is the place for you. Stydia Encyclopedia: 1x11 “Formality”

I think probably what I like the most about this is that it's not Stiles being"forceful" and "aggressive" that earns him his dance with Lyda, in fact she continues to reject him after such a tactic. But it's when Stiles points out something she's tried so hard to hide, believing no one would actually be interested in her if they genuinely knew and here Stiles is who has made no secret of his admiration for her, but she realizes he admires her not just because she's pretty but because shes smart, something she believes she could never be valued for. She realizes she can be who she actually is and this dance isn't necessarily about her reciprocating feelings for Stiles but thanking him for giving her hope she can be more than just a trophy and still be loved.

So I'm re-watching Shadowhunters right now, I know, who would've thought? I mean, you search my blog and there's no question on how disappointed I was in the show. It took everything in me to finish that show as it aired. I wrote a review for nearly every episode and the longer it went on, the harder it was to write those reviews. Simply, because it went from disappointing but mildly entertaining to a snorefest of missing potential that had nothing to do with the books; it was just a boring show by the end.

But, I'm older now, haven't done a proper re-read of the books in a few years now, so maybe I have enough distance to not only critique it based on being a bad tv show and being a poor adaptation of the books, but also maybe I can just sit back and enjoy it because I have no reason to write serious reviews on it, I've already done that! So how about I just sit back and revel in season 1's cringe and cheese, laugh at it, and have a damn good time.

Which brings me to this post, while watching season 1 episode 1, I caught something i had never noticed before! And that's saying something because when season 1 first started airing, I was OBSESSED with the show (not in like a good way, but I was reveling in it because despite how terrible it was, it was still an adaptation of my favorite book series so I was gonna re-watch every bit of it until new episodes came out).

In the part of the episode where Izzy goes to dance on the table and rip off her wig for who knows what reason (now that I have some distance and re-watched it again, that whole sequence still doesn't make any sense. Demons dig blondes? What??? Then why did you rip off your wig then? And also what even is supposed to be going on in that back room? Do they normally just have super models walk in and strip tease?) But as Izzy is walking to that table to begin her stripper dance there is a portable set of stairs that you often would see in a older dog or cat's home to help them get on the bed or on the couch. This portable set of stairs is just sitting by this table waiting for Izzy to walk up it and dance. Like why? Wouldn't it make more sense if this was the kind of entertainment these demons were looking for that there would be some sort of actual stage? Like why is there a card table with portable steps by it?

Anyways, hope you all enjoyed this minor rant. Hopefully I'll have some new discoveries about this terrible show to post as I go. Maybe even some new insights.

So some of you might remember I had gotten into Zodiac Academy. I was making my way through the series but knew I would need to slow down so I wouldn't get stuck having to wait for Book 9 to come out. Well, I ended up having to stop for a while in book 5 because the dreaded moment finally came where everyone found out about about Orion and Darcy's relationship. This is one of the things I dislike about teacher/student relationships (besides the whole power play and predator aspects that gives me the ick). I decided to check out with the series for the time being as I wasnt super interested in seeing how that plotline went. So a few months went by and I'm back in it.

Spoilers below so dont continue reading if you dont want to be spoiled.

SPEAK NOW (TAYLOR'S VERSION) I wanted to get better, to challenge myself, and to build on my skills as a writer, an artist, and a performer. I didn’t want to just be handed respect and acceptance in my field, I wanted to earn it. To try and confront these demons, I underwent extensive vocal training and made a decision that would completely define this album: I decided I would write it entirely on my own. I figured, they couldn’t give all the credit to my cowriters if there weren’t any. But that posed a new challenge: It really had to be good. If it wasn’t, I would be proving my critics right.

And to this day, Speak Now is still my favorite album. And the most Taylor's Versions I listen to are on this album.

nothing pisses me off more than when i see a fic on ao3 talking about reach. "this ship isn't here but i added them for reach" "this fandom tag isn't necessary but i'm adding it for reach" "reposting for reach" STOP IT!!!! this is not tiktok this is not twitter this is an ARCHIVE this is not how it works!!!

i will not deal!!!! that is not how any of this works!!!!

if you see people doing this shit, report it. its against the terms of service.

genuinely. copy the link to the fic or series, and then scroll down to the bottom of the page:

click on policy questions & abuse reports which takes you to this page:

if you scroll down, youll be able to report the fic right there but you can also check for yourself that its against ToS

all you need to do is explain that theyre deliberately mistagging things which is just not a thing on ao3 because its an archive.

by posting your fic there, ao3, has the right to manually recategorise tags. its in the ToS:

you cant deliberately mistag stuff on ao3; it is an archive. you cant tag for reach, and this is likely gonna get pat tag wranglers because they deal mostly with form not content of tags and if theyre tagging for reach, its gonna be the more popular tags.

so report the fuck out of them for it. most likely, their fic will just have tags adjusted and their account will be fine.

and if they keep doing it and get suspended for it, its their own damn fault.

also thats not even getting into the fact that mistagging fics is kinda antithetical to their goal of reaching more people because youre not reaching the people who want to read your fic?

The Hitman's Bodyguard/The Hitman's Wife's Bodyguard

So my firetv was advertising The Hitman's Wife's Bodyguard and since I never saw The Hitman's Bodyguard, I thought what the heck, I'm always in the mood for a Ryan Reynolds film plus I love the bodyguard trope, it's my favorite thing ever, so let's watch both of these films.

The Hitman's Bodyguard is a pretty solid film in my opinion. It was enjoyable in just not a funny comedic and action way that you would expect these types of films to be but also enjoyable as far as story-telling, character development, i enjoyed it.

Now, The Hitman's Wife's Bodyguard, also enjoyable in its own way would have been good if it were not attached to the first film. So little in this movie actually makes sense in conjunction with the first film. Whole parts of the film just seem to have been completely forgotten in this one. From where the characters ended in the first movie to where they're at in the beginning of the second movie, makes very little sense. It's like the writers loosely remembered what happened in the first film and then wrote the sequel just based off of memory. While I was watching this movie, it kind of felt like The Whole Ten Yards (RIP Matthew Perry) in that it's just crazy and ridiculous in the beginning and you don't understand what's going on but then it throws you the curveball at the end that all the craziness was on purpose and part of a con; so I kept waiting for this movie to drop a similar curveball thinking something else must be up to tie this whole thing together. Spoiler alert: it doesn't, it's just crazy (although I did enjoy the aspect of Selma Hayek's character adopting Ryan Reynold's character as hers and Samuel L Jackson's adoptive son, that was funny and kind of adorable and I want to read fanfiction about it).

First movie, is fun but you can also take it seriously. This movie is ridiculous, over the top, crazy kind of fun but not in a way that enriches your experiences with the characters from the first film. It would've been a fun romp if it was its own thing not attached to the first one. But since it is attached to the first one, just lots of things don't make sense in it. But I still had a good time so I'm not mad at it.
