My mental health nurse just sent me these and i thought they were worth sharing
Tw: self harm
I just remembered that this morning, I actually considered stabbing my own hand. And cutting, but that's frequent enough lately to not be out of the ordinary to have that urge and let it pass.
The hand-stabbing, though. That's not normal for you, Robin. That's indication of some bad brain sick. Maybe keep an eye on that, but don't get too worked up about it. Note to self.

I still don't listen to any of the songs I listened to while I was coping with suicidal thoughts and self-harming. I actively avoid all of them. A large swath of my music library is one big "Nope."

Don't compare what you're going through to what someone else is going through. Just because someone else may be going through what you think is 'worse' than what you're going through, it doesn't mean what you're going through isn't real. Everyone has their own 'stuff' to get through in life. Don't belittle your own 'stuff' because you think other people have it worse. You deserve to get through everything with love and support and get to the other side of things just as much as anyone else.
Howdy. On Tumblr, I follow a good number of girls who suffer from depression, bipolarity, OCD, and various other mental disorders. A lot of them have or soon will have a boyfriend, and as great and amazing as that is, it scares me.
I have never been depressed. I have never suffered the way these…
Read this. This guy writes about a girlfriend he had who suffered from depression. This is one of the rare times that I’ve seen a non-depressed man talk about his depressed girlfriend without resorting to any “bitch be crazy” arguments, so it’s very touching for me.
Whatever you do, don’t make your boyfriend your entire world. He’s great, I know, but he’s not perfect. He has flaws, and he can’t always be there when you need him. You need more than just him. You need… friends, to go to. If you don’t feel you have any, or none that you can trust or that understand, make some. Because you need someone to be there when he’s not. And most of all, you need to work hard at being able to take care of yourself. Because there are going to be nights when there is NO ONE you can talk to.
I would only add that, obviously, those aren’t things a severely depressed person (of any gender) can do for themselves, and that that’s where professional help is badly needed. But it’s a good sentiment.
I'm sure the OP meant well, but all I see here is some guy telling women with depression what to do, instead of asking what he should do. That kind of thing is not actually helpful.
