First Thoughts on Gamer 2.0

I usually make these posts right after watching the episode but this time real life stuff came up after watching so it’s been a few hours and I may have forgotten some details, so…sorry about that.

Without further ado, here we go:

-Overworked Marinette is canon

-Getting all dreamy with rainbows and unicorns every time someone mentions video games, good golly sOMEONE GET THIS POOR GIRL A BREAKKK

-So we knew about Tom, but looks like Sabine games too. cool

-Aww Max just wants someone to play his game! 

-Kim has to meet up with Ondine eh? noice ;)

-Wait so Nathanael and Marc are actually having meetings with professional publishers for their comic books?? Bruh they’re literally like 13-14 why is everyone in this class a heccin’ child prodigy lol

-Aww even Markov is too busy?? Poor Max!

-I’LL PLAY YOUR GAME MAX, I MEAN I’LL PROBABLY SUCK AT IT BUT I’LL GIVE IT A GOOOOOO

-Shut up Chloe :P

-Hearing Ladybug and Chat Noir’s voices coming out of the villain’s mouths is a wee bit disconcerting lol

-Ok I know it’s just the French pronunciation of “mime” but…Mr. Meme

-tfw Chat willingly sacrifices himself because he has so much faith in his Lady bringing him back ;~;

- “Looks like there’s a bug in your system!”

-Mmm yeah so the next person to claim that Ladybug hates puns is disqualified k, sorry I don’t make the rules ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

-Gamer 2.0 seems to be the most benevolent akuma we’ve had thus far. He didn’t bend to Hawkmoth’s requests, he just wanted someone to play his game, he set up the stakes, and when Ladybug won fair and square, he held up his end of the deal and just willingly handed over his akuma. Cool.

-Ok I mean Tom and Sabine getting all excited to help Max and play his game is super adorable but like…don’t you two have to literally run your store?? 

-Also gaming is definitely a full Dupain-Cheng family tradition, for sure haha

IMO this episode didn’t really do l*dyn**r any favors since CN still lacks a critical understanding of just how seriously LB takes her responsibility as a superhero. It’s still just fun for him and he assumes it’s the same for her.

The one person she thinks can possibly understand her struggle with balancing both sides of her life and he just doesn’t because he treats it like a big game.

I think that’s because it’s the only time he can experience true freedom. Why wouldn’t fighting be like a game when you’re in your happy place?

The problem isn’t how he feels about being a hero (though he should take it more seriously but that’s an issue for another post), it’s that he doesn’t consider that maybe she doesn’t feel the same way. She’s indicated multiple times that she considers it a serious duty and that it’s interfered with her personal life but it doesn’t occur to him to ask how she actually feels about the whole situation. It’s the same as when he lamented to Marinette about Ladybug not loving him; she said she had her heart broken as well but he keeps the conversation about him, never making an actual effort to understand her problem. It’s not that Adrien is a selfish person (he does this without noticing and it’s probably due to his upbringing), but it’s something he needs to work on to form healthier relationships.

Okay, this was very satisfactory.
