Then Sam and Dean drive away in separate cars.

This is more of a final episode ever idea, based on a set of theories yourshipmentisin sent me.

Demon!Dean is permanent. There is no cure for the Mark, but Dean masters it and finally has the calm and strength and feeling of self-worth we always wanted for him.

Sam starts the Men of Letters over, and invites others to join. He acts as a sort of Bobby figure to them and hunters who come to them for guidance. He also marries, and lives a happy life like he always wanted.

Dean still prefers the open road, so continues to hunt every evil son of a bitch out there. Because when you’re restless and immortal but still Dean Winchester…why not save some people and hunt some things.

Castiel finds a solution to his grace and is a full angel again, but instead of returning to heaven, he prefers to stay by Dean’s side.

That’s about as happy of an ending you can get if Dean is not able to be cured. There was a second half of what happens after the credits, that I may add on later.

In the promo for Supernatural 9x14 Cas is labeled “The Unforgiven”

In 1960, Audrey Hepburn starred in the film “The Unforgiven”

Who gives a shit, you say?

WELL, in said movie, Hepburn plays a woman who was adopted into a family whose race was different than her own.

In one of the climactic scenes of the film, Hepburn’s character, Rachel and two of her adoptive brothers embrace as the building they are in threatens to burn to the ground as a result of a fight between Rachel’s birth family and her adoptive family. Then it is revealed that Rachel and one of her adoptive brothers are in love as she choses to stay with her adoptive family. They kiss.

Does that ring any bells? IT SHOULD.

“We’re family.” - Dean to Cas (let’s not forget that it’s canon that Dean loves Cas according to cut dialogue from the crypt scene)

Dean, Sam and Cas are essentially adoptive brothers
Dean and Cas canonically love each other
Dean and Cas are different - an angel and a human
An angel/human war has been brewing
Castiel is going to have to make a choice

I think you see where I’m going with this. Knowing Supernatural’s fondness for obvious symbolism and parallelism, I think this may be the climax of where this season has been taking Dean and Cas.

Let’s not forget:

In three episodes this season, we have seen human/supernatural being pairings directly paralleling Dean and Cas. (Cain x Collette, Garth x Bess, and the couple from Canyon Valley)
This is no longer portrayed as a bad thing but in fact a good thing (one member of the pair saving/redeeming the other)

So here’s the thing: Crowley is clearly demonic. He was a son of a witch in 18th century Scotland, sold his soul, died, went to hell…Became a demon and then became King of Hell.

But he also had a ‘thing’ with Naomi in Mesopotamia. Sooooo…couldn’t he be a fallen angel like Anna? I mean, how did she know what to do? Someone had to do it first, right?

So, Crowley… You were an angel. Became disaffected. Ripped out your Grace. Fell. Was reborn as a human. Learned magic. Sold your soul. Died, went to Hell and became a demon.

And at some point, recovered all your memories. Cool.

I’m just going to leave this here.
