y'all seem to think that since pk subban is popular that racism is somehow solved in hockey and the racist issues that still exist are outliers instead of the norm…. y'all realize that pk subban is a pioneer right??? he is in no way accepted or a standard in the nhl he is trail blazing by merely existing on the ice and y'all have the gall, the fucking audacity to act like auston matthews has 1% of the courage or the balls that pk does to get out there every night

pk subban and wayne simmonds and joel ward and darnell nurse do not get the ease that auston matthews does to exist in their own skin. they don’t get the fact that they’re men of color thrown in the end of their nbc player profile. they are black first, nhl players second. auston matthews is an nhl player first, half mexican second and to act like he even amounts to an once of the work that pk subban has put in for representation in the nhl is so fucking disrespectful it makes me want to scream

Q: I wanna get into the donation you made at the beginning of the year. A lot of things were said about that, PK. One of them being, you know, PK had political motivations in making this donation to the Montreal Childrens, that he wanted to ensure himself that he’d be a Montreal Canadien for the remainder of his contract, that he could be the captain of the team if he made something like this happen. How do you deal with that kind of perception?

You know, when I made the donation, I didn’t think I’d be taking heat on anything that had to do with that. I mean, was my story with Alex Shapiro, was it fabricated, you know? When you have a relationship with a kid who you develop over time, you get to know he and his family and then, he … you know, he passes away and you see that. And now, I have to explain that to a reporter who wants to tell me that I want to donate to help kids because that was my experience or the fact that I want to put a letter on my jersey?
