Imho the idea of ‘cruelty free’ products or food shouldn’t mean that nothing died to create it, but rather that anything and anyone involved in the creation process hasn’t been exploited or harmed.

Leather is good actually. Veganism isn’t the end all be all to morality and consumption. The issue isn’t that a chicken died for those nuggets, but that while the chicken was alive, it’s life fucking sucked. Vegan chocolate means little if the cocoa that made it was gathered by child slave labor.

Factory farms, abuses of the people who pick the fruit and vegetables we eat, the focus profit and productivity over all else - that’s the fucking issue here. It’s capitalism folks.

If anyone ever acts like the royal family has no power over this country, here's your reminder they very much do as people aren't even allowed to say what they think on the monarchy without being arrested right now by police.

This is not the only one. There have been several. In this case, they gave the fact tha tthe protester used a four-letter obscenity on the sign. One man was arrested during one of Charles’ speechifying things for yelling, “Who voted for him?” And one man got himself police attention just for holding a piece of paper. The cop was demanding this man’s details on even just seeing a piece of paper upon which the man being questioned intended to write “NOT MY KING”, and warning him not to do that unless he wanted to be arrested.

Some of these people were “de-arrested” later. For the record, this means that they weren’t even taken to the station and processed, which they only do when someone’s innocence is clear. It’s different to “released without charge”, which is when they let you go but the investigation is still pending. What this means is that they didn’t actually want to detain these people on charges to do with the Public Order Act (likely since they can’t make them stick); they just want to bully them out of the immediate vicinity so they can keep up the fantasy of “everybody loves the monarchy”. But they are allowed to arrest people until they feel like not-arresting these people anymore, all because of the Police, Crime, Sentencing and Courts Act, which lets the police break up any protests they like for any reason at all, up to and including, “You might offend or annoy someone”. Which, I mean ... if the protest isn’t offending or annoying the people you’re protesting about, it isn’t much of a protest, is it?

This country went down a really nasty rabbit hole.

As a Jewish person who suffers from bipolar disorder, I have no sympathy for Kanye West. Bipolar disorder turned me into an apathetic, irresponsible person, sure, but it never turned me into a fucking Nazi. There is no manic episode that could make me shout racist slurs, or spew such vile things. When I was manic, I turned into a promiscuous alcoholic, not a bigot. Turning into a Nazi isn't in the DSM5, I can assure you.

Kanye West has more followers on Twitter than there are Jews worldwide. He is one of the most famous people on earth. The fact he can go on an antisemitic rampage without consequences is terrifying. If you're not a Jew, your Jewish friends need your allyship more than ever right now.
