“I think you’ll find they’ll object a bit violently t’bein’ called “foul monster” by some hairless ape. In any case, I don’ do domestics: you’ll have to sort out things with yer boss on yer own.”
“And are you going to go tell them what I called them?” Joan scoffed. “You’re my next of kin when we’re not on Earth, unless you prefer bringing my actual next of kin along.”

“I mean, you do tha’, but I wouldn’t recommend it.”
“If something happens to me, tell my boss! She might let me have a day off if I’m mauled by some foul monster.”
“Workin’ on tha’– bit of hush, please.”
“You have fun. I’ll just follow the big glowing exit signs.”
“Yes, I get tha’ sometimes.”
“Well, may I suggest we find the nearest exit and get as far away from here as possible?”
“You know for a genius you can be remarkably thick.”

"I spent my morning hungover and listening to my landlady talk about being part of a drug cartel and her husband... Didn’t even have the stomach to eat the fry up she made me,” Joan let out a quiet chuckle as she nursed a mug of tea. “If yours went any better, I’d love to hear about it.”

River gave a bright smile as she looked over to their companion. “Now dear that sounds like a fantastic idea. Your choice, where do you fancy?”
Joan bounced giddily, clapping her hands together. “How about... An interstellar beach thousands of years in the future that serves great ice cream?”
“I dread to think what must make it to the papers,” Hera said with a strained laugh. It was rare that her work made it into the papers. Usually it was her private life that got splayed out there.
“I can take the time to show you around, it’s not problem.”
"Newspapers lie alot,” Joan frowned, a lesson learned the hard way. Over the time with Sherlock, she had began to trust the media’s outlook on people, and to just come up with her own upon meeting them. “They’ll say anything if it’ll get their paper off the shelf.”
The doctor was thankful at the tour, giving her a change from her usual wandering when Sherlock went his own way.
“Did you get to design this place yourself?”
“Depends on how angry she is,” River smiled rubbing her hand over the console.
Joan couldn’t help but beam at the image of the blue box kicking out the timelord in a huff.
She moved her gaze back to River, watching her interact with the machine for a few moments before speaking up. “We should go somewhere... She’s already going... Would be a waste if we didn’t.”
“Oh yes, he’s been locked out, thrown out. It’s quite amusing for me,” River chuckled.
“She’s no nonsense... I like it,” Joan let out a laugh and patted the console gently. “How long do we have until she lets him back in?”
“From what I can tell he’s always done it.” River huffed reaching over to flip a switch and the noise stopped. “I’m surprised she doesn’t kick him out more often.”
“Well... I’m glad to know that I’m not the worst driver in the universe.” Joan watched the older woman’s actions before smiling up at the now peaceful console. “She kicks him out?”
