Pattern —built off a standard pants block, based on a palazzo pant pattern
Mockups —After the mockup I added about 4 inches total to the length, which I’m glad I did, because even after that they ended up about the same length as the mockups due to the weight of the fabric & the dyeing process.
Cutting, sewing—I flatfelled all the side seams so they’re super sturdy and can hold up to the wash, which is important because I had to wash them to be able to dye them. I didn’t add the cuffs at the bottom until after dyeing to ensure even dye application
Dyeing—The dyeing process for these was weirdly intense, considering how dull they turned out. Eventually, I plan on scouring them with soda ash and trying again with the mixture I used originally. If that doesn’t work, I’ll use a synthetic dye. They’re linen, dyed in a variety of natural dyes. I used a mordant with tannins in it so I could do an iron post-modification to create that darker color and gradient effect! The dyes themselves were madder, logwood, and cochineal extracts. It’s kind of shocking how orange they turned out, all told.
The sash is just a commercially dyed cotton gauze, I really love the texture of that fabric and I like what it adds to the pallet. I decided to leave the edges raw to complement the kind of rugged look of the base outfit.

so what is squidcraft 3?
this is a yearly twitch rivals minecraft event hosted by a spanish speaking streamer from el salvador called komanche. with the additional help of eufonia studio who are video game developers. this is a twitch event based off of the netflix drama squid games. and last year it held about 200 content creators both spanish and english speaking. this did start as a spanish creator only event and then the second became international if i’m correct. generally though this is a huge twitch rivals event especially in the spanish speaking content space it’s one of the biggest. its also pretty competitive but that can depend on your pov for the event since its also just a space for a bunch of creators to interact. and so this will be the third one held and they’re currently announcing participants every day! this event lasts multiple days and the people competing will have to do multiple challenges every day whether they’re individual or team based and slowly as the days go by people will die and be eliminated. whoever survives last gets the grand prince i know that last year it was 100k. this year the event will be on november 12th so in three days. here is the official trailer for this years event
this year there are a lot of familiar faces for those who watched the qsmp
as of right now they have officially announced (also like i previously mentioned they are still announcing people so we could get more qsmp members): rubius, spreen, quackity, luzu, maxo, mariana, roier, carre, missa, rivers, foolish, bbh, tina, bagi, fitmc, lenay, tubbo, and etoiles, pactw
for those that watched purg 2 you may recognize in this event the following: seapeekay, natalan, axozer, soarinng, barca gamer, crystal molly, aldo geo (the great winner🏆)
some english speakers here may already be familiar with this event as tina and foolish have played it in before and this is where they got to interact with mariana and roier for the first times before the qsmp was a thing!
i’d also like to mention that i believe this is the first time theres a brazilian and french creator be apart of this event. at least to my knowledge its only ever had spanish and english speaking creators.
its a cool event but as a reminder people can die on the first day and you know not be able to partake in the other days so be a good sport, watch another pov if your fav dies, and just enjoy it. its an event that means a lot to the spanish speaking community so just have fun with it !!! and be fucking nice !!!!!
everyone in mcyt fandom talks about bad inventories but i feel like we don't talk enough about the different types of bad inventory & the ways that inventories can be characterizing. i took most of these screenshots but one or two of them aren't by me and i've just had them saved for a few months sorry. i'm taking inventories from various people across various servers (wild life, dream smp, hermitcraft, lifesteal, and 2b2t) to illustrate my point here
like there are inventories that are bad because they're empty:
but then there's also inventories that are bad because they're full:
and, like-- the different ways an inventory can be bad are also characterizing? an inventory can be bad because the items aren't stacked; or because it's empty of anything useful; or because it's so full of building/fight supplies that there's no slots left for doing anything else; or because it's full of random junk. it speaks to a character's position (compare tubbo's diamond sword and empty inventory to ranboo's netherite sword or zam's full inventory of potions) and the rules of the server they're on (tubbo's not wearing elytra because elytra aren't allowed on the dsmp; zam's inventory has chorus fruit and wind charges but no ender pearls because ender pearls aren't allowed this season on lifesteal) and what their priorities are (building, pvp, lore) and how organized vs scattered they are and so much more. another inventory i like:
like!!! that's so instantly characterizing, for both the character and the server!!!! 5 stacks of end crystals + obsidian. 6 stacks of tnt. 3 stacks of god apples and a stack of chorus fruit as your only food. the bucket of lava and bucket of water for lavacasting. the fact that the flint and steel is enchanted with unbreaking. that's a STORY--of the character but also of the server! this is not the sort of inventory you have on most servers! it's so focused around griefing--explosions, lavacasts--and pvp, and the stacks of god apples as primary food source are an instant warning sign for widespread duping. the chorus fruit not for fights--ender pearls are strictly better, and he's got some so he clearly has access to them--which means it's for escaping traps, which means that's a live concern. it's got a lot of pvp supplies but it's so wildly different from the lifesteal inventory in ways that speak to the differences in server rules and cultures. like, horrendous inventory in many ways. also, very good inventory in some ways. also also, delightful inventory! fascinating inventory!!! inventories are such a delightful source of instant characterization i love them so so much
