Lily Evans watched through an oval window as the world rushed by outside, bringing her uncomfortably closer and closer towards her abhorred hometown for the unfortunate holidays. The sight could be beautiful, all rolling hills and meadows of sunshine yellow daises like that of an impressionist painting. It could be exquisite, reminiscing something straight out of a classic novel about the fascinating English countryside. It could be alluring and dazzling and delightful, but time had long since disparaged it’s bright hues and now even the most antique landmarks were covered in spray paint murals. Truthfully, even someone as morally inclined as Lily had taken part in the graffiti back in the day, back in the wilder part of her teenage years.
Even so, wild for Lily meant disappointing tame for everyone else.
It had all seemingly paid off however; she had a fancy job in a city three train rides away while those of a more rebellious nature - who, though she would die before admitting it, Lily had secretly admired - rotted in the same bar she had refused suspiciously cloudy alcohol in as a sixteen year old. Rumour was someone slipped a goldfish into the tequila bottle, and although she knew it was highly unlikely the bartender would still serve it, Lily could still never bring herself to drink it, sticking more to sitting in the corner alone while her friends talked to older guys and thought creepy was the same was romantic. Nobody paid two thoughts to the redhead with thick glasses and a deadpan expression, just there to make sure her friends got home safe.
That was, until James Potter came into her life.
