Not Kacchan thinking "Fuck! Not again"
Excuse me, I'm trying to brag over here
"Deku, you traitor!"
I'M DYING WTF 😂😂
May I present you Bakugou I'm tired of your bullshit Katsuki
Kacchan, what did you do to deserve such punishment? What civilian did you glare at? Whose children did you scare?
Aaaaw...don't be a grumpy cat Kacchan
Sounds familiar Kacchan?
When I first read this chapter I found it strange that Bakugou was where normally you'd expect to see Shoto. I mean, Ochako, Iida and Todoroki have always been the Deku squad, always supporting him and of course they'd be the first ones on the line to help him.
Instead we see Bakugou, a Bakugou that on this chapter wasn't afraid to directly admit in front of everyone that he is the one who knows Deku best, like so many times Izuku has done with him, and everyone just trusted him with what to do next.
It's just a reverse Kamino as many of you already pointed out. That time their classmates went to Izuku to plan how to save Bakugou from the villains, now Kacchan is leading the class to save Deku from himself.
So yeah, I was surprised to see him between Ochako and Iida and I love how he's showing his caring for Izuku without twisted filters ("a bit" of sarcasm, yes, but we love him for that ¯\_(ツ)_/¯).
He wants him to stop these self-sacrificing fights, he wants him to remember himself ("So after all of this...can you still keep smiling?"), he wants him to come back.
And he isn't doing this alone.
"Just try to stop US"
Kacchan is willing to fight with his classmates to bring Deku back. He isn't trying to prove himself as the best anymore because he knows everyone in their class cares for Deku and he needs his nerd to understand that too.
I KNEW IT
I have been waiting for this kind of development FOR WEEKS
Bless you Horikoshi
*Bohemian Rhapsody intro starts playing*
"Is this fanfiction time? Is this reality?"
I'm sorry, but I've been waiting for this moment since I began to read the manga.
Look at his eyes while he's marching to where Deku is while ignoring his classmates and probably the pain that his injuries are, very likely, still provoking him.
I'm not looking at this panel only with the eyes of a shipper who is reading an exciting passage form a well-written fanfic (because for how long I thought this Bakugou was only gonna happen in the magical non-canon world).
I'm looking at it seeing the continuation of what has become more undeniable throughout this arc: Katsuki's growth.
I've already written in another post how he's beginning to show to people he's close to that he cares for them. However, here I want to focus on how his growth is affecting his relationship with Deku.
He's becoming more open (to himself and to others) about his feelings towards Izuku. I'm not necessarily talking about romantic feelings. I mean that he's seeing him for who he is after all these years, without the fears and the anger that altered his vision before. He's caring for Deku, as I believe he always did, but now he doesn't fear to show it.
And this isn't even the first time we've seen him this way. We've had a lot of examples in the last chapters, beginning with the flashback of their training with Ochako, Sero and Tsuyu.
He's worried that Izuku's way of always putting others before himself has now eventually provoked some significant damage.
Serious talk aside...
PLEASE, PRINT IT ON MY FACE FOR THE WORLD TO SEE
Can we please look at his expression while he's asking about Deku and the others?
When, and I repeat, WHEN have we seen Bakugou make that face in regard to someone?
He's concerned, but not in a twisted way. He's caring. He doesn't even think about himself and his injuries. Hell, one second ago he was attached to an oxygen tube and now he's on his own feet worrying about other people. Please, let me repeat it: WORRYING ABOUT OTHER PEOPLE.
Don't get me wrong, I know we've already had proof that he cares about others in his own way, it's just that I'm not used too see him with this kind of expression. It's almost as looking at Deku.
I've been impressed with his growth as a character, especially in the last arc, but what Horikoshi sensei is doing here is fantastic. It doesn't feel forced, Kacchan is growing gradually accepting more of the outside world while remeaning who he is and I'm all for it.
