sext: i am a blade of grass, you are the top layer of skin over a middle-aged man’s left calf. delicately gracefully and with all the love in the world my glassy teeth rip you open and your juices pour all over me. tacky, reddened, swollen with the bacteria that covered me, you ooze until your host drags ragged horn plates over you to calm the signals you send his brain. in the winter i rot away and am replaced, but you will already be gone

Herpetosiphon aurantiacus is a filament-like bacterium that can rapidly glide across surfaces. H. aurantiacus are facultative predators, hunting other bacteria by secreting digestive enzymes when nutrients become scarce. Interestingly, H. aurantiacus hunts in a “wolf pack” strategy: the bacteria will not hunt unless a certain number of H. aurantiacus is present. When this number is reached, the bacteria will swarm and flood their prey with a high concentration of enzymes.
